Obama is taking over the airwaves tonight, appearing on NBC, CBS & FOX, plus a couple of cable networks, I think. What are folks expecting? I'm guessing it's going to be some sort of video akin to the one that ran at the Dem. convention. Can't imagine he'd use that time to just give a speech or something.

30 Minutes of Obama
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
I too am interested to see what he's got up his sleeve.
I also heard that this is going to be aired in 78 other countries as well.
Have people in other countries been following this election closely? Do they even care? I'd be interested to hear what citizens from other countries think of the two candidates. I couldn't see many being in support of McCain when Obama plans to make this country more 'European'.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
french people are crazy about obama. they can't explain why though, a few have told me they just want to see him elected because he's black.
they've both even been on les guignols, which is kinda like the daily show with puppets http://www.tele7.fr/tv/news-tele/les-guignols-de-l-info-obama-et-mccain-en-images
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
^ lmao
I have no idea what they are saying but the mold they made of Obama's face looks way better than the one they made of McCain, which makes him look like he's 95 years old!
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
just what we need, 30 more minutes of obama.
too be honest, I think this move can put him at risk in hurting his election. why fuck around when you are ahead.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
^I agree. I know he bought this time awhile back, but at this point in the election, the last thing people want to see is more of either one of these candidates. This could backfire.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
I agree too. I don't see the upside for this 30 minutes considering he's far ahead. If anything, McCain should attack on Obama's wasteful spending by paying for this event.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
I have a feeling the ratings will be low. Like Jenks said, people are tired of seeing either one of them.
I heard CNN didnt want it.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
i don't think it will backfire. i think it will drive in home that we need a new direction, a new idea, and a new person in office.

why? because he paid for tv? thats retarded.
if the republicans had made as much lol or even as close to what the dems made this time around then i'm sure as fuck they'd do it too.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
@ those concerned about the backfire potential:
I'm kinda inclined to agree as well. He's already bought the time, though, so I guess it would look cocky to not use it. Kinda screwed either way.
Reminds me of a comment from a pundit this morning who equated it with running up the score in football -- people may not like it, but the team running up the score ultimately wins...
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
here ya go...
For all the obama-drones here... After the election, the Messiah is going to ask you all to wipe the jizz of "hope & change" from your eyes, cause he's gonna have a job for you all to do...
The Obama Gestapo 2009. :twisted::twisted::twisted:

Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
how is being a strong together nation bad?
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
^^theres no hope for mccain so anything that can be considered negative will be used.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
how is being a strong together nation bad?
The Department of Defense’s current base budget is close to $500 billion.
So if the Messiah actually plans to make good on that promise, he plans on a total defense budget of about a trillion dollars.
What exactly is Obama planning to do with a “civilian force” with such an astronomical level of funding? And who the fuck is gonna pay for it ???
Or maybe he's just lying...
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
honestly, i think you are missing the message in this one.
i don't think he's making up some civil army, but then if he is maybe we could attack bush and his cronies and perhaps get them to stand trial on a myriad of law breaking issues. would be great.
but really, i think republicans are searching for negativity here.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
I don't think this will be that bad for him. It's only a half hour. Most people have hundreds of channels and other options; they can always find something else to do for 30 minutes. I suspect this will be fairly effective for him. It would be a different situation if we put these infomercials on every day for a week.
I watched it. Some observations:
-
Very slick in the way it was put together. Really focuses on the hardship that people are facing out there. It really drives home how the current environment seem to benefit Obama; he "owns" the perception of caring about the plight of lower middle class people right now. McCain and Palin have never succeeded in owning that ground, which I guess is natural given their Republican roots.
-
Obama really is a damn good salesman. I was reminded of that as I watched the small excerpts of his past speeches. I'm not saying that that makes him right, but just in terms of charisma he is in a league of his own and no one else in this race has it.
-
I would have liked to have heard him talk more about the deficit and how he's going to pay for all these great-sounding initiatives. Folks, we're now dealing with a $1 trillion deficit. My main concern with Obama is that he's always been vague on how he will deal with some of these things and how he will maintain government-led investments to be effective, given government's bad history in managing things.

Don't worry chloe, I'm sure there will be a job for you in his administration, killing republicans, christians, and anyone else who challenges his rule...
Sorry, I guess I missed the point here...
The point that he's just another lying politican/lawyer; Except he's an inexperienced, socialist politician who was very popular with leftists, terrorists, and various shady businessmen...
You should all be very proud...
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
i'm wondering, k3n3, being that you're so sure, what will you do when you're wrong?
what bet will you make?
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
Obama really is a damn good salesman
bingo. think my quote a few weeks ago was comparing him to a mortgage broker circa 2002. but that's it from a sceptical POV. will be sad seeing everyone jerking off when he wins. i bet certain ppl will be fucking blow up dolls and crying.
lmao, @ mccain though, poor guy thinks he stands a chance.
shame on us. im actually planning on taking to the streets and joining in some serious civil disobedience. im praying for fires, mass rioting all the fun stuff no matter who wins. i hope he is shot at his acceptance speech too.
the nation of zombies begins in a week. fuck you.

Miroslav. I think you got it pretty right It was incredibly well done. !!.
For me, there were parts that I found quite inspirational, and I haven't always been the biggest Obama fan. I think he is very rapidly growing into the job. There is a very real chance that he could be a President that changes the world for the better. I certainly don't see this doing him any harm.
If I believed in a God I would definitely be praying that no one does assassinate him.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
I think it was a good idea especially leading into a baseball game as it may have got people to watch that have never really paid much attention.. sure you lot have seen him all over, but there are still millions that probably dont watch this sort of stuff on a regular basis

I guess you didn't hear McCain trying to answer that in the first debate.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
^^ maybe not. But this article did a pretty good job of delving into my third point....
If I could ask Obama two things, it would be:
-
With a record $1 trillion deficit on the horizon, are your near-term programs and tax programs a realistic and responsible proposal to the American people?
-
Given the questionable history in many peoples' eyes of the efficiency and effectiveness of government-led programs, what assurances or evidence can you give us that your government-led programs (such as healthcare) will actually contain costs and increase quality?
This is what we should really be asking...not all this bullshit about being a terrorist, or a socialist, or a satanist, blah blah. Obama seems to have good ideas, but there is a lot that is very vague...and the devil is in the details.

he's just an idiot really, not condisending. if he doesn't get my jokes about people thats his fault. and people who read into things, no matter politcal, relationship or other, are really just trying to find problems.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
i'm not seeing the vague ideals. i've read numerous times what obama is going to do or try to do while president. i've read about his history and his background. i've read all sorts of facts and opinions about what hes going to do.
you all must be missing it or something.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
Wow did I watch that crap last night. Obama is such an idiot. Did everyone hear the "puppy dogs and ice cream" he was spitting out last night. I am pretty sure he promised every demographic what they wanted last night. Pensions for everyone (which we all know the baby boomers are in for a shock soon), Jobs for everyone, money for everybody, peace through the world. Jesus what a load of shit.
This may backfire if a terrorist attack comes before the election because he did not even address terrorism or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan(that 2 secs he said he will refocus was a crock of shit). Guess what if the Joint Chiefs can't figure it out I'm pretty sure he won't have a fucking clue.
The only change obama is going to do is change what lube he will use before he sticks it in your ass.
Re: 30 Minutes of Obama
a civilian force? wtf is he trying to do? reminds me of socialist countries' peoples' armies...

brace for change people. we're fucked

It's actually a compliment to be considered an "idiot" or "condescending prick" by the thoughtless zombies that worship at the alter of Obama...
For those that doubt the power of the almighty obama, simply stare at this logo for 47 minutes...

For most of the members on here this is the first election they have payed attention to, that is clear, especially to anyone who has been involved for any real amount of time. I think its great though and very important that we all ask questions and hold our elected officials accountable once elected.
