total cunt behaviour.

(CBS) Since she's been on the campaign trail, Sarah Palin has received a lot of attention over her wardrobe, her hair, even her glasses.

Now, Politico.com is reporting the Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 on clothes and accessories for Palin and her family.

Politico says the expenditures began early last month, soon after Palin was picked by John McCain to be his running mate.

Palin frequently wears expensive designer clothes on the campaign trail now, points out CBS News correspondent Meg Oliver.

Spending records filed with the Federal Election Commission and obtained by Politico show the RNC paid for "campaign accessories" from upscale department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, where nearly $50,000 was spent, Neiman Marcus, $75,000, and $4,700 for hair and makeup.

"The problem with this for the campaign," explains Politico Chief Political Writer Mike Allen, "is it's the kind of thing that can stick in people's minds. At a time when they're cutting back on their own spending, they see a candidate looking extravagant."

And that, observes Oliver, could pose a political risk.

In 2000, Al Gore was criticized for changing his look by wearing clothes with earth tones. Two years ago, Hillary Clinton got some attention for two hair styling sessions that cost $2,500. And of course there were those $400 haircuts John Edwards got.

"This would," Allen says, "make the John Edwards haircut look like a bargain at the same time she's (Palin's) trying to connect with Joe and Jane the Plumber."

The McCain campaign released a statement late Tuesday night saying, "With all the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign."

Politico told CBS News it hasn't been able to identify any similar expenditures on the Democratic side.

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

I think the outrage of ther $150k for clothes and makeup is overblown. Even as her harshest critic, I know that anyone who went to high school knows women spent copious amounts of money on clothing, and that has always, almost always, carried into adult life. Also consider that she can't be seen wearing the same thing twice; nobody gives 2 shits if obama wears the same suit two speeches in a row; but the idiotic 'rules' of female couture require excessive amounts of expenditure on clothing and makeup. And being that she's a vice presidential candidate, no matter who retarded she may be, I think it's imperative to defend that she's gotta look the part; wearing LL Bean and Coldwater Creek does not make one look vice-presidential. And, being that McCain has dropped $47M in October alone, this seems negligible.

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

lol. there is no fucking excuse to use up to 150,000 in clothes/make up/ shit fund dude. you've got to be fucking kidding.

there are so many more important things.

#1106431Post 4 of 92

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

also you should find out more info because its completely easy to find well made clothes at a cheaper price.

michelle obama wears a couple designer target dresses from isaak mizrahi's range all about 50 bucks and looks stunning every time.

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

no, i'm not fucking kidding. if a person can't even look the part, then what the fuck are they even doing up there? what would be more important than making your vice president look decent? I mean, really??

#1106437Post 6 of 92

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

there is no need to spend that much money.

you need to know more about clothes/ fashion/ suits or something because you can be outfitted with a great style and wardrobe for a quarter of that.

she is an overspending republican cunt.

chloe, obviously you are not a feminist because you won't vote GOP. ;)

While this issue about the clothes does alarm (and I doubt that statement about the clothing donation), it should suggest another issue: they had to spend $150,000 to get SP to look presentable.

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

yes, it is an excessive amount. yes, she could have gotten by on much less. but yes, it's probably not a very substantive issue in the grand scheme of this election. Obama has like $150 million going into the final two weeks in his campaign. I'm pretty sure someone could do some digging and come up with examples of where his people could have spent in a more prudent fashion as well.

yea im not 'for the women' and i'm not 'compassionate' because i don't feel rape victims should need to have those babes.

do you not agree that that is insane about of money on trying to make someone look good and presentable? and that it can be done at a fraction of the price? (and were not talking about other expenditures we are talking about clothes/ hair/ make up)

does it not piss you off that they are spending money on such frivolous bullshit when we are all broke and in pain because of well, hate to be blunt, the republcians?

it is amazing to me.

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

^ if anything chloe, you should be cheering on the republicans for spending more money on such frivolities like clothing and less money on spreading thier message.

amirite?

also i looked up lots of info on baraks clothing spending and can't find anything. only see where it talks about michelle obama being very good at spending little and looking a million bucks.

ok so 150k on pretty much her entire family? wow. this is really nothing at all given the circumstances...

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

good thing is that we probably wont see Palin ever again after Obama wins. Mccain will banish her back to where she belongs, Alaska.

also, didnt Mccain's wife spend over 300k on her gown to the RNC?

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

^^ the unfortunate thing is that she is actually a bit of a star within the Republican party leaders' circle, and she has very sharp elbows. We probably will see her again, at least on the Senate stage.

Agree 100%. In light of all the money being spent the last two years including the primaries, then this isn't that big of an issue to me.

It may not be a substantive amount in the grand scheme, but I think it is a substantive issue. It shows her gouging whatever she can get while she has the chance. Not a good look at any price!!

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

Yeah, 150k is excessive for clothing, and it is a waste spending that much on Palin, but let's not forget Obama's $1500 (I wonder if that suit is well within the budget of the struggling working class people? ) custom made navy blue, worsted wool two-button suit made by the Hartmarx Corp. that he wore at the DNC. For shame to be spending money on such "frivolous bullshit" as a suit like that or other sets of clothing for a lame female VP candidate when the rest of America is struggling to make ends meet. Truth is, considering the amount both Dems and Repubs are spending on their respective campaigns, this argument is pointless. It's just another ploy to dodge issues.

Re: sarah cunts clothing spending.

^ you know what's interesting? The punchline is implied; everything we hate about the MTV generation is exactly what we hate about the palin cheerleading. It's literally like cheering on britney spears. we know she doesn't write her own music, but she can sing whatever is given to her pretty decently. She's a little bat-shit crazy but is good at covering it up. and people like her because she's hot, not because she has any substance.

What does Palin's record consist of? Fighting corruption in her own party in Alaska. Puting money back into the pockets of Alaskans. Fighting corrupt oil tycoons in Alaska. Sitting on the board of an ethics committee for years.

If people would look at what she has done, they'd understand why she has an approval rate of 80% in Alaska, the highest approval rating in the country.

Let them eat cake.
