Had some pretty good commentary lately. First, the "free Sarah Palin" thing, then calling on the campaigns to be more civil, now this denouncement of race baiting. Definitely making the most of her increased exposure:

it DOES matter if he's a muslim. Because, if it doesn't matter, than Sarah Palin's moon-bat psycho beliefs in religion should not matter either. But they do, and so it follows that if he was a muslim (which he clearly isn't) it would matter.

I should not have to articulate 'why', but if I need to connect dots, I do not hesitate in rehashing what I've said many times before.

Would it be relevant that a candidate was a part of a militant sect of islamic extremists? Of course.

Does the fact that someone is muslim disqualify him or her from higher office, though? I don't see anywhere in the Constitution that says that it does. The fact of the matter is that of the nearly 2 billion people on this planet that practice islam, the overwhelming majority do so peacefully. Keith Ellison, who is a Congressman from Minnesota, is an openly practicing muslim man who took the oath of office on the Qur'an. Being a muslim, [B]without more[/B], doesn't mean shit, and she's absolutely correct to point out that using "muslim" as a slur ought to be an insult to the overwhelming number of Muslim-Americans that don't want to see us get bombed by islamic extremists any more than the rest of us.

There is no religious litmus test to run for president. but it still matters what religion you behold. Your knee-jerk reaction is hi-larious though.

Personally, I would automatically discount Scientologists. But, as you seem to suggest, there are plenty of moderate scientologists running about, being peaceful.

The nature of what informs thier judgment, religion, is at contest. Islam, like Scientology, like Christianity, and so forth, seriously calls into question how one will react and respond to an event.

Thus, even thought we agree, apples to oranges on how we assess religions. I believe I'm correct in being more strict against those who are more strict with thier religions.

Sure, a Muslim would never get elected. It shouldn't matter if it could be demonstrated that the guy otherwise consistently acts to uphold fundamental American/Constitutional values and principles, but I'm sure it would. I'm frankly surprised that a black man has gotten this far in the process; two years ago, I would not have thought it possible in America.
