Has anyone else notices that almost every country in the West has started domestic military deployments for one reason or another??

USA Italy Germany

Funny that these three would be the first to do it. Nothing like having your name (USA) up there with the Nazis and Mussolini.

Re: Military Deployment??

Forgot where I found this but it is a good read, in terms of the world situation and war. So much wrong has been caused out of the words nationalism and sovereignty, think about it.
The Problem of International Unity The distribution of the world's resources and the settled unity of the peoples of the world are in reality one and the same thing, for behind all modern wars lies a fundamental economic problem. Solve that and wars will very largely cease. In considering, therefore, the preservation of peace, as sought for and emphasized by the United Nations at this time, it becomes immediately apparent that peace, security and world stability are primarily tied up with the economic problem. When there is freedom from want, one of the major causes of war will disappear. Where there is uneven distribution of the world's riches and where there is a situation in which some nations have or take everything and other nations lack the necessities of life, it is obvious that there is a trouble-breeding factor there and that something must be done. Therefore we should deal with world unity and peace primarily from the angle of the economic problem. With the cessation of World War II came the opportunity to inaugurate a new and better way of life, and to establish that security and peace for which all men ceaselessly long. Three groups immediately appeared in the world:
[] []The powerful, reactionary, conservative groups desirous of retaining as much of the past as possible, having great power and no vision. []The fanatical ideologists in every country - communistic, democratic and fascist. []The inert masses of the people in every land, ignorant for the most part, desiring only peace after storm and security in the place of economic disaster; they are victimized by their rulers, by established old conditions, and kept in the dark as to the truth of the world situation.
All these factors produce the present disorders and condition the deliberations of the United Nations. Though there is no major war, there is no peace, no security and no immediate hope of either. It is essential for the future happiness and progress of humanity that there should be no return to the old ways, whether political, religious or economic. Therefore, in handling these problems, we should search out the wrong conditions which have brought humanity to its present state of almost cataclysmic disaster. These conditions were the result of religious faiths which have not moved forward in their thinking for hundreds of years; of economic systems which lay the emphasis upon the accumulation of riches and material possessions and which leave all the power and the produce of the earth in the hands of a relatively few men, while the rest of humanity struggle for a bare subsistence; and of political regimes run by the corrupt, the totalitarian-minded, the grafters and those who love place and power more than they love their fellowmen. It is essential that there should be a presentation of these things in terms of the spiritual welfare of humanity and a truer interpretation of the meaning of the word "spiritual". The time is long past when a line of demarcation can be drawn between the religious world and the political or the economic. The reason for the corrupt politics and the greedy ambitious planning of so many of the world's leading men can be found in the fact that spiritually minded men and women have not assumed - as their spiritual duty and responsibility - the leadership of the people. They have left the power in the wrong hands and permitted the selfish and the undesirable to lead.
There was a map I saw on Digg a few weeks back that pretty much put this is visual form. I'll need to look that up because it was pretty fascinating to read at the bottom all the ideas that were swirling around right after WW2.

Re: Military Deployment??

i strongly disagree with this line: "economic systems which lay the emphasis upon the accumulation of riches and material possessions". economic systems don't do this. people do this. it is integral to progress itself. People want more, and yet the quote says we should dissociate ourselves from 'wanting' anything. And therein, the whole quote falls appart. The alternative to allowing businesses and individuals to retain property and proprietary rights is to invoke governmental authority to control all rights. Thus, while the article points out that governments have facilitated the world problems, they rely on governmental authority to resolve such problems. This is not unlike Christianity, where 'sin' was created while the only way to absolve one's sin is to join the church and 'absolve yourself of sins' which never existed before its inception. I could go on for hours, but I can't.

USA Italy Germany

Funny that these three would be the first to do it. Nothing like having your name (USA) up there with the Nazis and Mussolini.
To the best of my knowledge, none of them have "started" military deployments. The Germans are only amending their laws to facilitate the domestic deployment of military forces in the event of some extreme emergency that the police cannot handle - i.e., terrorist attacks.

Don't be fooled. This is nothing new. Whether there is a well-articulated law or not, pretty much any nation on Earth will revert to martial law if things get bad enough. That's pretty much a given.

Re: Military Deployment??

Miroslav yet again you miss my point.

The point I was trying to make is that the powers that be know it is going to get bad. That is why they are launching the military in domestic regions. Martial law is on the horizon and coming into view. If you can't see that I'm sorry but you are little naive. These actions always start as a little thing "Just training and practicing" then before you know it martial law will be implemented with checkpoints right out of Orwells 1984.

And that all is not well in the world? hmm. I see.

And here I was thinking it was all sugarcakes and pink fairies out there right now. And that when the going gets tough, the military's job would be to hand out Starbucks coffee, donuts, and a good-natured high five to every citizen on the street. Oh my goodness! Now that was silly of me. ha ha.

Thank you for this useful inside tip. Your mental agility is undeniable, just like John McCain's homosexuality! I humbly stand corrected.

Re: Military Deployment??

Well I'm not sure where you come from as stated in earlier threads but around here the military is not allowed to step on domestic soil.. I'm glad I could clear things up for you. I love nothing better then arguing with Red individuals on Wednesday mornings..

Oh by the way how is your bailout working out for everybody??

Oh by the way how is your bailout working out for everybody??
You wouldn't recognize sarcasm if it came up to you on the street and fucked you sideways, huh

But in the event that you did get the sarcasm... touche on the "Red" thing. A clever touch there.

In all seriousness, dude... I'm not going to get into another pointless, immature pissing match with you. So don't expect any more responses from me to your provocations. I'll debate the pros and cons of the bailout with you, if you want, in the Bailout thread that already exists.

I will leave you with one more thought, though: Our military always steps on domestic soil if they're not off in Iraq or somewhere. They live and train here for the most part. :p
