The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys.

Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.

Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.

Re: Posse Comitatus: w. t. f?

So, what's the worry here? Is it the implication of an expected attack, or is it both this and its timely introduction in October to start ramping up the fear?

well consider the hype of an october al qaeda attack (and the consequences to our liberties as a result) and that they start exactly 1 month before the election. Not even circumstantial, but it inclines the mind....

aside from that...do you not see the relevancy to what the Redcoats did to british citizenry in pre-America colonies? Consider for a moment that this is PERMANENT. This isn't some ad hoc deal going on.

Worst bit, which is so Orwellian
“I don’t know what America’s overall plan is — I just know that 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines that are standing by to come and help if they’re called,” Cloutier said. “It makes me feel good as an American to know that my country has dedicated a force to come in and help the people at home.”
The question is, who is giving the orders, and for what. It is of no consideration that the soldiers would willingly follow orders in direct violation of the constitution.

This is really troubling.....not that...it's suprising.

Re: Posse Comitatus: w. t. f?

I heard a report a few days ago that said terrorist attacks were "expected" to come sometime within the 12 months AFTER the election. If I were McCain or Palin, October would make more sense to consolidate the fear vote.

These warnings and color-coded HSA fear index make about as much sense as "Duck & Cover" in the Cold War.

Re: Posse Comitatus: w. t. f?

WTF is so troubling? troubling that we have an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks????

we should have had this years ago... we do need a force that is always on call to help or protect.

how the fuck is it a fear vote consolidation? wow you guys accuse me of stupid conspiracy shit because of what i say about obama and then you drop this? lol

damn it, i ventured and made comments in politics again. shit

Re: Posse Comitatus: w. t. f?

Yeah, seriously I'll wait and see if McCain/Palin refer to it and kick off the fear-fest. This by itself isn't enough to really be worried about.

And what is a combat brigade going to do against a random terror attack? Nothing. The perps will likely die in any such strike. And our military has been so successful in stopping terrorism so far.

^i'll have what shosh had for breakfast. Edit: this is amounting to a Federal National Guard. please wiki Posse Comitatus.

Consider for a moment that, like a weed, the federal government which has crept itself into a certain realm of society, never recedes and often grows in that area. I cannot think that the scope of thier utility will ever be reduced. And I'm quite certain that the scope of thier powers and authority will, like always, expand.

I recommend reading about the Whiskey Rebellion for starters.

I would say that anyone who believes the phrase "War on Terror" is a meaningful way to conduct or describe a way to actually reduce terror attacks, has already been a casualty of fear and has been co-opted or consolidated by the candidates who like to brandish that phrase at every possible option.

Terrorism is a symtpom of a larger problem, not a disease in & of itself.

Re: Posse Comitatus: w. t. f?

i personally fear that this is being used more on the terror end, when it should be used for the disaster response.. especially considering the hurricane situation, when we can see em coming and to quote justin long's character in the last die hard "it took them 3 days to get water to the superdome........."

after the last few years of the gulf of mexico state basically being annihilated..... yeah, if they gonna be here, someone should practice carrying water, sandbags, lumber and food to trucks, as we have clearly shown that is too hard for our government to handle.

on the terror end of it... pfft. let teh CIA loose, and put these people to better use. if it happens, we cant stop it. we can only help afterwards. the only people who can aid in preventing it are our intelligence agencies, let them do it.

It is just a 1 min clip supporting te army article..

Why would the Army have to be placed in the US?
Location - Georgia

Why did they order 500,000 plastic caskets?? Location - Georgia

I love conspiracies but hey what are the odds of that.

I haven't seen the video, but my instinct tells me that they keep them there in case a terrific hurricane makes landfall in a populated area of Florida or the other Gulf states. To fan the flames of your conspiracy, I think I recall hearing that the CDC has thier main center in Atlanta.

My question is....are the caskets always plastic? I always thought they were made from wood.
