An 11-year-old boy has been suspended from school for wearing an anti-Barack Obama shirt declaring the Democrat presidential nominee as a "terrorist's best friend". Daxx Dalton, a Year Five student at Aurora Elementary School in Colorado, wore the shirt to school on a day where students were asked to wear something red, white and blue to show their patriotism for the United States, Fox 31 News reports. The school gave Dalton an ultimatum — turn the shirt inside out or he would be suspended. "They're taking away my right of freedom of speech," Dalton told Fox 31. "If I have the right to wear this shirt I'm going to use it — and if the only way to use it is get suspended, then I'm going to get suspended." His father Dann, who describes himself as a "proud conservative", said the school's actions trampled on free speech. "It's the public school system — let's be honest, it's full of liberal loons," Mr Dalton said. "The facts are his rights were violated, period." Aurora Public Schools declined to comment on the case but said it's investigating, while Mr Dalton has indicated his intentions to bring a lawsuit against the school district.

I'm pretty sure it does. But this is tasteless. It's false information. No one came in wearing anti-Bush clothing or Iraq/Afghanistan anti-war shirts.

Diagnosis: Shitty parenting, not 'liberal loons'

whatever dude, you know that kid has his own opinion formed by watching the news, newspapers, etc...

jk he is no doubt a puppet of his dad. even i don't think this is right. :D

i thought there still is freedom of speech on school grounds unless it disrupts school activities, or incites/encourages illegal activities or violence.

toasty?

My thought: if you're going to take a stand on something like this, at least get some iron-on letters and make it look nice. Writing with a felt-tip pen on a plain white t-shirt really highlights the "white trash" component of this story.

that's basically right, since it's a public school. I'm actually siding with the kid on this one (on his right to wear the shirt, not the sentiment expresses thereon).

Re: School suspends boy for anti-Obama shirt

Bong Hits 4 Jesus. Morse v. Frederick.

anyways, i think it's disgusting how this young child is being perverted by his parents. Worse, the parents sound like jackasses anyways. And with a name like Daxx, probably not that bright either. Probably not a bad idea to castrate the father so he's not popping out a Traxx, Axx,and Faxx. For the fact that he used the term 'liberal loons' makes me want to call child welfare services on his ass. no kid should be intellectually abused by a retard like that. left right or otherwise.

It'll be interesting to see how this will come out. It's certainly not promoting drug abuse.

Edit: if i had a child, I'd make him wear a "Sarah Palin is a Book-Banning Commie" shirt.

Edit2: the shirt seems to be intended to ignite, enflame, and purposefully distrubt the classroom.

Re: School suspends boy for anti-Obama shirt

not even close. the result will be easy to obtain. but westlaw is a different story. precedents, judicial opinions, everything. there is a reason they limit westlaw and lexisnexus are more along the lines of professional citing.
