From Cedar Rapids, Iowa (although Palin thought she was still in Grand Rapids) today:
“We’re going to do a few new things also,” she said at a rally in Cedar Rapids. “For instance, as Alaska’s governor, I put the government’s checkbook online so that people can see where their money’s going. We’ll bring that kind of transparency, that responsibility, and accountability back. We’re going to bring that back to D.C.”

There’s just one problem with proposing to put the federal checkbook online – somebody’s already done it. His name is Barack Obama.

In 2006 and 2007, Obama teamed up with Republican Sen. Tom Coburn to pass the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act, also known as “Google for Government.” The act created a free, searchable web site – USASpending.gov — that discloses to the public all federal grants, contracts, loans and insurance payments.
Ironically, her own running mate, John McCain, liked the Coburn-Obama bill so much, he signed on as a co-sponsor.

Who really cares? Certainly not me. Doesn't matter to me if she doesn't know about this as I'm sure plenty of people don't know either.

It is wildly ironic, though. I recognize that McCain and Palin take the position that Obama hasn't accomplished anything at all. The reality is that he hasn't been in Washington very long and doesn't have an enormous amount of significant legislation under his belt, but there are two major things in particular that he can lay claim to -- the Lugar-Obama anti-proliferation act, and the Coburn-Obama transparency act, the latter of which is the bill at issue here.

Sounds like Palin is believing her own (or her handlers') bullshit, and clearly hasn't done her homework on her opponent beyond learning to spit out talking points.

moveon is the dumbest fucking thing in the world. this guy should be dragged into the streets and beaten at this point. mccain should just be shot. you keep promoting him, he is SHIT jim. we should be looking elsewhere at this point. these parties are destroying the country. and obama is a PUPPET, nothing more, you believe he is, shame on you.

If this weren't so frightening I might laugh. The Republicans needed to frame this election in terms of a culture/class war because God knows, they cannot win on issues. What is so pathetic is that so many people fall for this conservative drivel.

FOR GODSSAKE !! After eight years of Bush our expectations are so freeking low that even Sarah Palin is "qualified" to be VP or even President. I think my cat is more qualified than she is. I know teenagers more qualified than she. McCain's decision here is truly the most cynical political decision in my lifetime. Sheeeet, bring back the soccer moms & forget this hockey mom.
