Interesting survey of Americans' perception of reality in terms of the election: http://www.pipa.org/OnlineReports/Pres_Election_04/Report10_21_04.pdf

The main insight is that a majority of Bush supporters still believe that Iraq was involved in 9/11 and Iraq had WMD.

In addition, the majority of Bush supporters feel that if Iraq was NOT involved in 9/11 and did NOT have WMD, then we should not have gone to war.

The analysts theorize that the trauma from 9/11 caused a real tight bond to develop between the pres and American citizens. To maintain their perception of the president, those that still support him have had to filter out information that conflicts with their image of him.

I don't know if that's true, but I still find it shocking that these people believe those two things are true.

Report was published on 10/21, so it's very recent info.
