How Many Houses?

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet:
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in an interview Wednesday that he was uncertain how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own.

"I think — I'll have my staff get to you," McCain told Politico in Las Cruces, N.M. "It's condominiums where — I'll have them get to you."
:lol::lol::lol:

Kinda hard to paint the other guy as an out-of-touch elitist when you're unable to answer a question about how many houses you have. I'm not harping on him for not knowing -- hey, if you have so many houses that you even have to pause before you answer, then that's a feather in your cap -- but it makes it tough to claim any sort of "average guy" cred...

Re: How Many Houses?

Was eager to find out what sort of weak-sauce response you'd offer. As usual, you don't disappoint.

And actually, no, not really like that at all. One is dealing with information about a third party, the other is information about yourself. As to McCain's inability to come up with that number, I'm not sure how you spin that in a positive way. Think about the things in your life where you could come up with a decent estimate of how many you own, but you might not be 100% sure. For me, that would probably be shoes or something like that -- got a pair for the gym, couple pair of dress shoes, few pair of casual shoes, few pair of sandals. I could come pretty close, but I'm honestly not positive how many pair I own without checking. Now imagine if you were that way with houses -- kinda tough to argue that you're in touch with average people's financial problems when you can't come up with that number without consulting someone else.

Either that, or he's seriously losing his shit. Take your pick.
dude its been proven he got a deal from rezko
please elaborate. I have a feeling this is like "Obama will raise taxes on everyone making $25,000 or more" that has no basis in fact, but is just repeated over and over again by those in the Right Wing Echo Chamber until it has an air of credibility.

And what the hell does this have to do with McCain being unable to recall how many houses he has anyway? Sounds like McCain's campaign's own explanation that was a redirection to the fact that McCain was a POW, which seems to be the fall-back position any time McCain is challenged about anything lately.

Honestly, I'm starting to lean towards McCain seriously losing his shit as the most viable explanation:
In our News interview, [McCain] was asked what kind of car he drove. As with Politico’s question about home ownership, he didn’t know and had to ask a nearby aide. “A Cadillac CTS,” she told him.
OK, but isn't a tad disingenuous to charge Obama with being out of touch with the middle class, when McCain doesn't even know how many houses he has? For probably more than 99% of the country, the answer to that question is an immediate "one" or "zero." I'd bet that the vast majority of people with multiple houses could tell you without even furrowing their brow how many they have. There is a very, very tiny group of people that even have to think about the answer to that question.

Reminds me of when Cindy McCain recently remarked that "In Arizona the only way to get around the state is by small private plane." Really Cindy? I bet there are a few million Arizonans that don't have that option that would disagree. Hell, I was in Phoenix a couple of days ago, and no one offered me a plane.

And Obama, the guy raised by a single mom and who just recently finished paying off his student loans is the one people think is the arugula-eating patrician? Blows me away.

Hey dumbass, it's from the National Review, which describes itself as "America's most widely read and influential magazine and web site for Republican/conservative news, commentary, and opinion." What, you see the word "Gore" and you quit reading?

Why don't you humor me and point me to some non-wingnut site that proves any wrongdoing. This whole smoke and mirrors thing about Rezko relies upon repetition without substantiation -- so lets see some facts to back it up. There isn't anything shady going on just because you will it so.

Re: How Many Houses?

lol @ this

"As a senator who has embraced cap-and-trade, federal fuel mileage laws, and is fluent in green-speak (“Greenland is the most outstanding example of what’s been happening [due to global warming],” he told The Detroit News in a Dec. 2007 interview), McCain would demand huge sacrifices of the American economy even as he lives like a king. Like any limousine liberal, McCain prefers the symbolic gesture to walking the walk. In our News interview, he was asked what kind of car he drove. As with Politico’s question about home ownership, he didn’t know and had to ask a nearby aide. “A Cadillac CTS,” she told him. But then the senator was quick to point out that he had bought his daughter a Prius — the prefect halo symbol for his green pretensions. "

lol @ the fact that even the right wing media is making fun of such stupid answers.

I agree... it is quite ridiculous and McCain is certainly not any less an elitist than Obama. I don't care what shosh says, McCain still deserves a swift kick in the nads for that dumbass response :p

Re: How Many Houses?

I doubt McCain has even driven a car in years. If you get driven everywhere.... why would anyone expect you know what kind of car you have?

As for the houses.... I don't see the big deal, either. My family owns a bunch of houses. Sometimes I have to sit there and count on my hands to remember how many. What if he owns investment properties or rentals? Do those count? Obviously we're in an age of gotcha politics, so I can see how people want to pounce on anything they can... but my only reaction is.... There are many more important things we need to know about than who can remember where their houses are.

I swear... this kind of shit is sooooo fucking gay.

While you're busy searching, let me direct your attention to a couple of articles from Annenburg's non-partisan Factcheck.org addressing the actual facts surrounding the Obama-Rezko relationship:

because the ultra-rich and the trust fund kids care less about serious economic issues than those who pinch pennies and where the cost of gas and food is of the greatest concern. These are the people voting for him and appear out of touch with the majority of americans.

It's not an issue of his ascendency into wealth (he cheated on his first wife and married an heirress to a beer distributor). It's an issue of understanding middle america. The guy doesn't even fucking use e-mail or the interwebz, mayng.

Nobody is holding it against cindy. All she did was have to survive childhood and adulthood to take her inheritance. That is to say, she didn't work for her wealth, but merely took it as a genetic consolation prize.
