Cracks me up that at this early stage, almost 3 months before the election, not only is McCain not able to say anything positive about himself or even focus on negative things about Obama, he's taken to mocking Obama's supporters.

Re: new mccain ads (not for toasty, jenks, or other socialist obama nuthuggers)

not only that, but the ads don't really do any damage to obama. if that's all McCain has, he's in deep shit. kinda like the one about him being a celebrity. i actually wondered before it was over which side it came from. lol.

McOldy is doomed.

Probably not to the same extent, but he's definitely an enormous celebrity here, too. Every time I see him, people are just agog, and there is no shortage of Obama gear floating about. I haven't heard anyone rapping about him, but apart from that, it sounds like you're describing my neighborhood.

Re: new mccain ads (not for toasty, jenks, or other socialist obama nuthuggers)

first, i think it's horseshit to say that there are no conservative supporters who are going to vote Obama. Ever heard of the term 'obamacons?"

second, you don't win elections by attacking with ad hominems. there are very easy ways to break down baracks platform, and the GOP has not done a goddamn thing to address them.

third, mccain would be better off explaining how he's more 'conservative' and more 'limited government' than bob barr. because most of the hardcore free market/limited government conservatives are ultra dissatisfied with mccain.

ur thikning too much. im laughing at the obama supporters. they remind me of when the ed sullivan TV show would pan out to the crowd everytime paul and john would sing in chours and dance, and you would see the girls crying and jumping around.

i'm always stuck in my head. sorry. though, i gotta say, while i can't be jumping around for obama, i will probably jump around on bush's last day. i'll probably pour out a 40oz for the Constitution. always honor the dead.

Re: new mccain ads (not for toasty, jenks, or other socialist obama nuthuggers)

i think Mc'old got it all wrong, the only thing hes doing is putting Obamas name on everybodys mouth. Even tough he uses sarcasm at its best, you have to realize a lot of people wont get the joke, plus i dont think theres anything wrong about being a celebrity, that only helps obama with the younger crowd.

Its like those paris and britney spots he did, i think they helped obama more than anything.

Re: new mccain ads (not for toasty, jenks, or other socialist obama nuthuggers)

There is something incredibly ironic when the ad itself asks "Is he ready to lead," while images of him in front of thousands upon thousands of his followers are shown.

"Is he ready to lead?" Well, he's doing it right now, while McCain knocks applesauce off a grocery store shelf in full view of upwards of 7 people.:lol::lol:

Yeah, good point because, you know, encouraging people to hope for a better America and calling for the extermination of an entire race of people is pretty much the same thing.

Re: new mccain ads (not for toasty, jenks, or other socialist obama nuthuggers)

look I know a lot of supporters for a obama might be swept up in the fever but c'mon, just because he's popular doesn't mean that people are following him for the wrong reasons. I think he's really popular because he can actually express complex thoughts and is reasonable instead of brash and ignorant. true lot's of folks just go after whoever's more popular but that's always going to exist. there's no more "sheep" now than there ever was. calling obama supporters "sheep" is like calling anyone who supported any politician ever a "sheep". you can make this sheep argument for anyone, ever.

john digweed fans = sheep new yorkers = sheep midwesterers = sheep all motorists = sheep people who liked "Batman" = sheep you like starbucks = sheep you hate starbucks = sheep you care about something = sheep you don't care about something = sheep

#1062336Post 31 of 33

Re: new mccain ads (not for toasty, jenks, or other socialist obama nuthuggers)

i like john digweed, a lot, in fact. but i'm not sheep. i think the more you like a person, the more critical you become of what they do.

#1062363Post 32 of 33

Re: new mccain ads (not for toasty, jenks, or other socialist obama nuthuggers)

exactly. so while there'll always be folks who blindly follow somebody, it doesn't mean that even most of them aren't critically evaluative of that person.

the way I see it, the ruin of the 2004 election is what is behind this. people were so unhappy with bush, and he still won because of the typical GOP campaign strategy. with this pitiful loss still fresh on the minds of anyone other than bush supporters, people are trying even harder now. and it comes through in the show of massive support for obama, who imo is probably up to the task. it's just enthusiasm for relief from blundering administration and exasperation at the last futile attempt to topple it.

i started out with a pretty even view of both mccain and obama (among the other candidates) and in the course of the campaigns, mccain has sickened me with his tone, his wavering positions, and now his mudslinging. whereas every time I listen to obama, he makes good points and actually answers questions instead of dodging them. say what you will about the followers but obama would clearly be better for global stability.

#1062466Post 33 of 33

Re: new mccain ads (not for toasty, jenks, or other socialist obama nuthuggers)

What exactly is the problem with being enthusiastic and excited about your candidate, anyway? Obama is the first candidate in my lifetime where I've really felt like I could get behind the dude, and I've never seen so many people who were never involved in politics before getting involved. Maybe they are attracted to him because of the soaring oratory and rockstar vibe, but if that encourages people to get involved in the process and actually learn about candidates beyond the superficial b.s. that most of us are spoonfed, I don't see how that's a bad thing.

And might I add, you could just as easily accuse some in the GOP of sheeplike behavior, with the primary difference being the level of excitement. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day who (1) thinks George Bush is an idiot, (2) likes Obama, (3) is not a McCain fan, but is voting for McCain anyway because he's always voted Republican. He literally shrugged and said, "Well, he's an 'R,' and I'm an 'R,' so I guess I'm voting for him." That is the very definition of herd-like behavior. As a matter of fact, George Bush might not have had an opportunity to fuck us over for the last four years if more republicans had looked beyond the "R" to determine whether the guy actually governed according to republican principles.
