that would be news to me. I thought a presidential pardon/commutation was one of those few truly unchecked powers.

I'm not holding myself out as an authority on this and have never really looked into it, but I really don't think there is. If there was a way around it, I assume it would have come up for discussion, at least amongst the punditry, after Scooter Libby's sentence was commuted.

I'm happy to be proven wrong, though.

i coulodnt tell you one way or another. but i think rove in prison would send a message to our representatives, that unlike the last 16 years, you guys will be kept in check.
