surely this cannot be the case. How un-Cintoneqsue.

I hear her speech will go something like this:

"As you all know, I am a Clinton; therefore, it is my manifest destiny to rule. Although Obama may try to be all elitist with his fancy 'delegates' and 'votes', I prefer not to get distracted with that and focus on what's really important to the America people: me getting what I want.

I still have lots of support. For instance, the people of West Virginia and Puerto Rico really like me.

I am a Fighter and not a Quitter. Therefore, you can expect me to stop when you pry this here microphone loose from my cold, dead hands, you motherfuckers.

Pelosi, you can bite me.

Thank you and God bless America."

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

^^LOL

Not so fast on the concession, by the way:

I still think she will, though -- she might not end her campaign which will avoid her technically conceding anything, but it ends for all practical purposes tonight...

i wish they would all die. like a huge salmonella outbreak at the capitol cafeteria. all of them.

let MENSA run the joint. we'd have world peace in a few years, renewable energy even sooner and the worlds agriculture problem could be solved in 10.

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

what a goddamn cunt

she literally rips the party in two, dragging a dead horse around the country and then repeatedly beating it with propoganda alongside a complicit media who despite knowing it was impossible for her to win, kept the myth rolling throughout the last few months.

Now, she 'concedes' her delegates for a consolation prize in hopes that people will respect her for the bullshit she has been putting voters through for the past weeks.

let me repeat: what a goddamn cunt.

To me, it's no different than what that austrian man did when he imprisoned his family underneath the house. Except he asked for a father's day gift.

This whiffs of political blackmail: i'm going to drag you through nails and then when it has gone way too far, i'll stop and ask you for gratidude because i stopped.

what a goddamn cunt.

even as i speak as a conservative, and my hatred for the clinton camp runs pretty deep...she's sunk it to a new low. Her wilful blindness in thinking she still had a shot is no different than Bush thinking he could win the war in iraq without a plan.

no wonder mccain is still cheering clinton on. birds of a feather...

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

i REALLY hope OBomb doesn't choose her as his runningmate. it might get him a few more votes, but i really don't think he needs it.

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

It's ovah. CNN is projecting Obama's got the delegates to put him in the winner's circle. Hillary should concede tonight. Now it's up to Obama to decide if he should pick her as the VP. Smart move would be to pick her and let them both focus on fighting McCain.

i disagree. Obama will offer it to Hillary, but she will politely decline. I think there has been some under-the-table dealings where she'll get a different consolation prize. It would behoove Obama to pick either Biden or Webb. Either one would be killer.

Why would he pick a woman, are there dishes to do at the whitehouse or something?

In the news, Hillary has been suggesting a lot that, if asked, she would take the VP spot. I think for her to turn her nose up at it would be to portray that she really doesn't care to do what is best for the Democratic party after this whole marathon race that she pushed for... I'm not sure how great that would look for her political future.

But it would probably be best of Obama to ask someone else. It may look like an attractive ticket to the average person, but personalities shouldn't be discounted. If you have two people closely working together who have basically been arch-rivals and have trashed each other publicly for months...that doesn't sound like the brainiest combination to me. Those personal things matter in an inner circle of advisors.

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

^ hmm. Obama picking Hillary would be like McCain picking Romney. Or, back in 2000, Bush picking McCain as vp.

#1028508Post 16 of 25

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

Hillary won't take the VP spot. Her mission is to ensure that Obama loses to McCain, so she will have a chance to run again.

And I think she will be successful in this mission. It will be Obama vs. McCain, and McCain will win.... with the help of the Clintons' sneaky campaign sabotage machine.

I think she's already made that abundantly clear, especially in light of her non-concession speech last night. Once again, I have given her too much credit in assuming that she would do something to signal to her supporters that they should begin supporting Obama. In fact, that's the word I had from the Obama surrogates I know, that she'd be releasing her delegates and supporters to back Obama. Instead, she did the opposite, effectively claiming to be "the person that speaks for them," which I read as, "I have 17 million people in my back pocket, and I'm not going to push for unity unless you give me what I want."

I was really wanting to get past all of this last night, and you could tell that the crowd at the rally I was at last night did, too, as Hillary got an uncharacteristically warm reception at the start of her speech. As it continued, though, applause turned to shrugs and nervous looks, and she was actually booed at the end of it.

Agreed. I think there are a host of other reasons that he should not have her as VP:

 1. His image is post-partisan, hers is intensely partisan -- they just don't mesh
 2. She and Bill would likely be a distraction
 3. Some commentators have noted that the VP's primary role is to obey, and that's something she and Bill might have trouble doing -- and along the same vein, after 8 years of Bush-Cheney, people are weary of the "president-by-committee" idea.

Really, the only good argument for having her as VP would be to try to get some of her voters, but I have a hard time believing that those folks would actually stay home or vote for McCain after they've had a chance to cool off some and consider the ramifications of 4 more years of Bush-esque policies.

Anyone who has seen me post knows that I'm totally biased, but I thought last night was one of his best. Absolutely loved it.

I really wasn't able to hear McCain's speech where I was -- was it as bad as the talking heads made it out to be? Toobin on CNN certainly pulled no punches, with his, "That was AWFUL! That was pathetic!" His reaction was a riot...

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

This idea that she is somehow holding those 17 million votes hostage is stupid. The majority of those voters are democrats. They will still vote for the democratic nominee. I think there will be a small percentage that will either not vote/vote mccain, but after listening to McCain last night, i really don't think it matters. I can't wait for the first debate between these two. Obama is going to mow him down like cheap grass.

Richardson gets my vote for vp. Edwards is your next Attorney General.

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

I loved this line from Obama's speech:
I honor, we honor the service of John McCain, and I respect his many accomplishments, even if he chooses to deny mine.
There's an awful lot of message wrapped up in that quick sentence.

I agree 100% that Edwards will be the AG, and I think he'll do well in that role. I'm still pulling for Bloomberg for VP, but that's a pipe dream, I'm afraid. Richardson would be a good option -- can appeal to an important demographic, both culturally and geographically, as Obama is looking to put Western states in play. The only serious downside with Richardson is that his foreign policy chops are so extensive, they could magnify Obama's relative lack thereof. Then again, not too many people compare favorably with Richardson on that front. I really don't know who I want -- lots of pros and cons to the names the press is kicking around.

I do like Webb -- but after fighting so hard to get that Senate seat, I'd hate to throw it back up for grabs again.
I loved this line from Obama's speech:
I think his entire speech just ripped right through McCain. I can't wait for the first debate.

McCain looked old and sounded bitter and disrespectful, and treated Obama like he's a little kid who doesn't know what he's doing, and i think it played poorly. I was listening to it just shaking my head wondering how anyone could vote for him. Really LOLing at the, what, handful of people there to listen to him? Obama had 17k inside, and 15k outside.

He's going to have a really hard time beating this campaign line: "McCain = 4 more years of Bush"

There were more people at Mad Art Gallery to see Obama on TV than there were to see McCain in person. Not an exaggeration.

Re: Hillary will concede the delegate race to Obama?!?!

Barack's speech was phenomenal as usual. That line toasty referenced literally had me saying "damn" out loud as in "damn that was amazing!"

Also, Hillary is a parasite and would act as such if she unfortunately became vice president. If her supporters have any sense at all (which for some is questionable) they won't switch from somebody who is identical to her in nearly every policy stance, to some angry old clown who fumbles through every speech he attempts.

I can't wait for the debates.
