Since the economy has been bad, I was thinking about the Iraq war and its cost. Is the big cost of the war finally catching up to us and we'll continue to see effect us for many years? I know its due to bad mortgages and lending, but I would imagine that the war costs us too.

Not sure if this website is right, but were literally in the hundreds of billions.

Can't be helping, that's for sure. Back in 2004, Osma bin Laden indicated in a speech that Al-Qaeda was:

Imagine putting $12 billion/month into health care or other programs.. oh well I guess it is better to just put your army into another country that had absolutly nothing to do with 9/11 or al qaeda..

Nope, that would give the US positive national security. I think we should follow the Republican credo (and many Democrats, by the way): We need to continue to war monger, be manipulated by al quaida as we have been since 9/11, continue to act as if our actions as a nation are always divinely guided (god forbid, we ever make a mistake in foreign policy decisions), and dump trainloads, planeloads and aircraft carrier loads of national treasure (young soldiers and equipment) and US cash into a mission to create as many enemies and terrorists abroad as is humanly possible.

If you look hard enough, you will eventually find or even create what you are looking for, (i.e. terrorism). AKA We all create our own realities and truths through our beliefs. Expect the worst out of people and you will get it.
