WMD's found in Iraq!

I'd like to aplogize to the Bush administration for doubting their motives for invading Iraq. There are indeed WMD's there and lots of them...

Nope, not your regular anthrax filled scuds and what not, but shells used by the US military tipped with depleted uranium. Already during the first Gulf war aprox. 300 tonnes of DU got scattered over Iraq. Result: birth deformities, alteration of DNA, rise in radiation related cancers (pancreatic, breast, ...).

And during the invasion a lot more shells with DU were used...

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what this means. Lemme give you a hint:

Long live our stife to liberate the world from evil dictators 'n' other vile shit. AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!!!

I thought it was very neccessary..Why should something like that be ignored?? Because its ugly or sad?? That is real right there..And people need to realise it.

at the same time, one may argue that saddam did 100 times the damage this has done... so its sixes either way
at the same time, one may argue that saddam did 100 times the damage this has done... so its sixes either way
With all due respect, that's bollocks. Yes Saddam used chemical weapons against the Kurds, but the half time of a chemical agent doesn't come anywhere near the half time of DU. Radioactive contamination will be a burden on the country for years and years to come.

Re: WMD's found in Iraq!

^^^ It's not my habit to call names in this section of the forum, but you sir, are a complete retard.

I remember at the dawn of the invasion of Iraq, I got called a US hater if I even dared to post something even near sceptical about the plan to invade Iraq (or any other point of the foreign pilicy of the Bush administration for that matter). Guess what, now more than 60 of the Americans think it was a bad idea and seriously question what's going on. But yeah well, some people (like yourself) just keep on making the same mistake by stigmatizing people who make a point you rather not hear.

Lemme tell you something else: it's not only the Iraqi population who's exposed to DU, it's also the US troops. What the fuck do you think Gulfwar Syndrome is? Now, do I still sound like an American hater to you? I hate Bush to the core yes, but not the US.

I suggest you click the link I've provided in my first post and read up a little instead of trying making yourself look all cool 'n' shit with a bs post like that...

And oh, I don't use pictures of deformed kids to draw attention to myself. Is that something you do often? Is that your level of morality? If not, stfu until you actually have some added value to contribute to this thread. Thx.

i think he gets enough attential by the picture of his avatar (<3).

i for one completely agree with kinky, i do not hate america, but i hate the corporate scum that run this beautiful country. if this country was indeed run by the people, for the people like it is supposed to be, mr. bush and his dimwits beneath him would take the hint that WE want out of the war... so why does he keep killing americans if he loves us so much? it confuses me =\

I spoke about this like 4 months ago!!! There is a really good documentary on you tube about this...just type in depleted uranium.

Re: WMD's found in Iraq!

To be fair a little depleted uraimium is the least of Iraqs worries.

Re: WMD's found in Iraq!

I agree with Kinky, but also with Morgan. DU is a problem. If it was in my back garden I certainly would be happy (to say the least).

But what concerns me more than anything else is that I can't see where all the violence is going to end. It just reminds me of watching BBC news reports from Northern Ireland when I was growing up. I thought it was part of normal life that the odd bomb would explode in London/Birmingham/Manchester/Belfast etc. And thats the reality for kids in Iraq

Iraq is so much worse and there is no real solution. You can tell Bush, Blair et al. haven't got a clue what to do anymore. Most people would say they didn't have a clue what they were doing in the first place.

The real problem is it's a Power struggle between the US (with the UK in toe) and the Islamic Fundamentalists. Not between country's. I use the world fundamentalist because the vast majority of muslim people are kind and welcoming people, with a fantastic culture. I think there are issues on both sides but no one is going to back down and this will probably go on for a very long time :(

But I am left with a question I've always wondered, at which point do the average muslim stop tolerating this political game played on by their governments and fundamentalists and actually start doing something about it. I keep looking at the situation in Palestine where unfortunately the people are stuck between a rock and hard place. On the one hand is Fatah, which has been nothing but a corrupt party where they literally siphon money away from the people, and Hamas, which has taken care of many of the people's needs, but stand on a completely hateful position. An unfortunate lose-lose situation for them.

Re: WMD's found in Iraq!

true, but at some point you have to be willing to to recognize that these fundamentalists are putting your lives at risk and destroying your way of life and that is a reason worth fighting for. Also there's strength in numbers which hasn't really been used in that region in a long time.

#870711Post 19 of 22

Re: WMD's found in Iraq!

I meant a gun with a fundi at the other side actually...

Strength in numbers... How do you get that? By breeding goodwill amongst the population. Guess what for example Hamas has been doing for decades now? Building hospitals and schools, fuck, an entire social supprt network for the population. Watch Syriana, that's exactly how these fucks rally people.

Imo the only solution is humanitarian and structural support next to military action. Not only to counter the fundi PR techniques, but also because I don't think anyone would give a hoot about democracy when grenades go off around your head or when you don't have electricity or running water...

Yup, get the hell out. At one point I was surprised to hear about a bombing. Now it is daily and I just wait to hear what the tally is for that day.

You bring up a good point, but it draws so many parallels with the corporate american side, it's worth noting. At what point do we stop tolerating our own government's political game and do something about it (Iraq war). You know our government sets us up with the illusion of safety and a good life while simultaneously breeding support for a war that is wrong. I say, if we haven't impeached our president already, then we have no right to ask questions of the people under the Islamic fundamentalist rule.

Re: WMD's found in Iraq!

I certainly agree with you there...an interesting observation is that without the draft during the vietnam era, America would probably have been left in exactly the same pitiful spot that we are now. Another interesting result of not having the draft during that era would be that all the late 60s and early 70s protesting and it's results would never have occured.

The only difference and this is where the democratic function comes in useful is that every 4 years we at least have the opportunity to vote for a different leadership (though admittedly a majority nonetheless voted for Bush in 2004 before a full understanding of how bad Iraq would turn out and just how far we were misled into the war was known).
