Re: toasty, ruby
haven't followed it closely enough to have an intelligent opinion on it.
Re: toasty, ruby
He will be disbarred, and probably sued on top of that. And he deserves it.
In fact, I bet he kills himself sometime in the next few months. They're going to go after him hard, and he'll face jail time. But he's going to put a bullet in his head before it all ends. That's my best guess.
Re: toasty, ruby
^^keep this in mind, though -- he prosecuted a case that was very thin and turned out to be wrong, there's no question about that. If prosecutors were disbarred every time they began a case and ultimately ended up dropping the charges, though, there wouldn't be very many prosecutors left, if they could find anyone willing to take the job in the first place. For him to be disbarred, it would basically have to be demonstrated that the decision to go forward with the case was actually dishonest in some material respect, not just ill-advised. It's a pretty high standard. No way he keeps his job -- the public uproar will see to that -- but I don't think him losing his license is a fait accompli. If he was dishonest and brought the case purely to propel himself politically, though, good riddance IMO.
Again, I don't know enough about the case to offer any actual thoughts on this particular situation, but just thought I'd throw that out there for those of you that do to consider.
Re: toasty, ruby
from what i understand, he pushed forward with the charges despite the long list of exculpartory evidence. THAT i think is his undoing...
Re: toasty, ruby
He actually hid the DNA results which excluded the entire lacrosse team. Trust me, he is going to be disbarred.
He's toast.
Re: toasty, ruby
^^^and there's the dishonesty...it's one thing when you lose....it happens. It's another when you twist and hide evidence to support your cause, (mainly political in this case of getting re-elected) even when it's completely wrong and you KNOW you have no chance of winning....
don't just disbar him from North Carolina; this guy shouldn't even be prosecuting anywhere, period...and although people do bend the rules a bit from time to time when it comes to this stuff, this went way over everything and destroyed an entire team (as well as put a scar on a great sport).
Nice to see Duke kicking some ass this year in the sport, however...winning the championship would rub it right back in this year...
