I know most of you hate Fox news, but I watch both it and CNN. Over the last few months, I've noticed that Fox has gotten away from covering important stories. Instead of covering Iraq, N.Korea, and stories that matter; they cover stories like car chases, exploding fire hydrants, Anna Nicole, and missing kids.

I think they know Bush and the Republicans, their friends, aren't so popular right now and choose to purposely not cover issues that may upset viewers with Republicans. Which isn't right because people should be getting the news that's needed & important.

I watch FoxNews, and I see stories on Iraq every day. N. Korea, too. And not only am I hearing about the things that are bad, but I also get some positive stories as well.... stories which CNN and the others are not reporting.

Re: Fox news

FOXNEWS should be shut down for un-educating half this country. but so should MSNBC as well. they do the same shit, but for the liberal.

Re: Fox news

CNN put an unbelivable emphasis on that Anna Nicole death though. Quite shocking the amount of stuff they diminished to cover it.

I wonder how many times she did Larry King. And I dont mean interviews.

as should CNN. but not because the three are un-educating america (leave that to government-run schools), but because it's diverted away from news and engaging sensationalism and opinions.

they have done exactly what MTV did: lost thier original purpose. the government may falter at educating american youth today, but these news organizations has enabled these kids to stop thinking altogether.

(IMO)

Re: Fox news

yeah we should shut everything down cuz its all crap!!! thats a great solution to all world problems...yup I agree!

p.s. should we shut down BBC as well? or will you allow them to survive?

Re: Fox news

In my opinion, BBC is a very good source of information , it can be sometimes biased but in general they are acurate with the info they deliver.

I find Fox news very entertianing.

We use to watch it playing pool in Guate. That ticker on the bottom page is very funny.

Re: Fox news

foxnews, on non-political things is not that bad, but then again, only CNN is bad on "non-politics". its when they allow assholes to vent opinions instead of looking for facts that shit goes downhill. dont have bill o reilly tell me how he feels, make him tell me FACTS and occurences.

Re: Fox news

I turn on Fox News around lunch time and they're having an in depth discussion about Alaskan Moose moving on city streets. They actually have interviews with a few Moose experts and why they are moving into the city. I can't make this up if I tried.

Again, my point is that it's almost if they're trying to distract us with crap while there are real stories to cover around the world. Not to pick on Fox news alone because the local news has been bad for years and CNN isn't really any better.

When either Fox or CNN attempts to inform us, they only cover stories that favor their political slant. For example, Fox will cover stories that are favorable to Bush which I can't think of anything right now. CNN loves to mention how bad things in Iraq because it fits their agenda.

Re: Fox news

the MSM has become one giant Op-Ed. I only ask about Fox News in Mexico, Apollo, because my understanding is that Canada was trying to prevent Fox News from being shown in that country, and only recently started airing shows from that cable channel. Still curious...

The mass media are often an easy scapegoat, most of the time too easy even. But the fact of the matter is that they do have a great responsability when it comes to their influence on the public opinion.

Ask youself why the rest of the world thinks Americans are retards and see their point proven by John Doe pointing at Australia on a map when a reporter asks him where Iraq is? Ask yourself why (probably) the majority of the Americans couldn't care less about global warming or the slaughter in Dharfur? It's either because of something in the tap water or it's because news channels like Fox don't inform their viewers correctly (if they inform them at all).

In Belgium the press is regarded as the forth institutional power besides the executive, the legislative and the judiciary. And there was a time that this was the case in the States too, just think of Watergate. But now sadly news has been turned into a product which must be sold. I still get shivers when I think of how CNN reported on the Gulf War and the first years of the invasion of Iraq. If you didn't know any better, you'd think you were watching a game show or a soap.

But hey, I'm happy to notice from threads like this one that people in the States aren't retarded per definition and are starting to voice criticism :)

that has more to do with the fact that they do not show the 500 people who answer the question correctly before they see either a thug life hip hopper, redneck moron, or spoiled teenage girl that points to seattle when asked where the US capital is.

do it yourself, walk around, ask 1000 ppl in any major city an i will guarantee you that at least 900 answer the basic shit correctly.

Agreed. We all love laughing at those videos of people on the street getting easy questions wrong. But the ONLY reason it's funny is because we, the majority of the audience, know the correct answers.
