Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
he started with good ideas and great personality now he is just a douchebag.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
Its the way the world is going. Dictators all around.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
think what he has done within the last year.
nationalized foreign businesses without repayment. shut down all opposition media outlets. revoked voting rights for members of the opposition rule by decree befriends iran
nothing here is done for long term stability, peace, and developement. all of it is a power grab.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
Power grab indeed. Reason is he knows the price of oil is his only real power right now. So hence the hurry up.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
It's always amazing how betterment for the people involves so many aspects of fascism Repealing of rights, freedoms, and economic opportunities He wants to be Fidel Castro so badly Once the oil runs out, so will the leverage Is the domino effect back on the rise? Send in the CIA back militias immediately ;)

fuck no. please. we are already busy enough with the toilet bowl known as the people of the middle east.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
Not backing his ruling by decree, but when it comes to development he's doing a lot of things that I myself have for a while seen as necessary for a developing economy...this frightens me though. Strong leadership: yes, uncontrolled power: no.
Nationalization and trade barriers are vital to give domestic industries a chance, as well as legislation benefiting those that wish to start their own venture. Max.15-20 years, and then it would be time to slowly expose the domestic market to the global one, I'd think about 5-10 years should be enough for that phase untill full opening of the borders again.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
Interesting way to put it.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
Just a thought...seen too many cases of stronger economies acting like a predator on the weaker ones. You can't let a kid out on the streets without giving it the knowledge and tools to survive, the same goes for economies IMO.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
True enough. I certainly won't give any dictator the credit of understanding that though.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
one thing is to be a great nationalist, and another is to be a fucking communist he totally lost it.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
haha...
[EVIL]fucking communist[/EVIL]
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
Russia is still technically somewhat communist. The biggest corporations are backed by the Kremlin, alleviated true free-market capitalism and monopolizing the economy. I think Chavez is learning a thing or 2 from Putin, which is more than we can say for our blundering retard of a preseidnt.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
Russia is now the land of the enterprising crook.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
but that isnt it, russia is somewhatcommie, so is china. but thier governments understand what it takes to keep epace and ensure prosperity. i.e. cooperation and respect to work together and in respect to each other. there isnt much of a virulent atmosphere in thier relations to anything outside of thier own immediaate problems with violent groups. (westen china fighters and the shit russia deals with on the southern border) but they handle those situations with a common understanding of how and why in the world stage

Fuck you to Sean
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
ahahahha.. Sean and Lorn, you guys do have a point in opposing the way Chavez is running things right now - protectionism is one thing, but dictatorship is way over the line. Chavez's last move makes me fear for the worst in Venezuela, since I've not yet seen the man that can handle absolute power without getting corrupted by it. What do you think the ring in Lord of the Rings stands for eh? ;)
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
its funny because you guys and me included see it as a disguised disdictatorship but people in venezuela see it as the best thing has ever happened to them.

Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
it's a split country.

Yup...not even the innocent little Hobbit could handle it in the end.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
it's a split country.
no it isn't a split country the majority supports him and he just got relected in fact... there were international observers that prooved it was a clean election.
so we are all happy they like their leader period.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
haha...Go To Hell!
let the world exist how they want to period.
right there is the flaw in your applied logic. instantly, by saying that, you revoke your right to have your opinion regarding our asinine government. let the US operate as it wants. if we cant have a negative opinion on someone like chavez, then no one should expect to have thier voices heard regarding the US's lackluster govt. i.e. if the US wants to live as a political and economic force, fighting for whaever the hell bush/clinton/whomever has in mind, then ppl should let us.
again, im not trying piss ya off, but round here, we based viewpoints on facts and reality, not opinions. its a healthy little politics forum we have here. civil, factual, and mostly realistic.

ok one thing is to have an opinion about Chavez and another is to have an interventionist attitude. and trying to persuade hate towards him in a forum.
he is a bastard I know that he is 100% anti-american and he hates us too. whatever but their people have the right to listen to him and to support him. he is their leader in Venezuela its their oil so pay for it that simple.

Amazing people can't figure it out though. Emotion is a powerful thing.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
chavez doesnt have an interventionist attitude????
again. incorporate everything.

thats pointless buddy... he can say whatever the fuck he wants if you don't like it then fine thats it ... not enough reason to kill chavez .. venezuelans have the leader they want period.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
venezuelans have the leader they want period.
I sure hope so....
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
OF COURSE they have the leader they wanted. I mean, look at all the millions of people who voted for him in the cleanest elections of south america. It must be incredibly tough to have a leader of a country loved by so many, but only a few really are trying to throw out of power. Who are those people to test his authority? The public corporations? Nope, they do not have any right to thier business. The neighboring nations? No, they are there only to impede on his ability to lead his people on principle and pride.
I just can't understand how a few completely incompetent and fully ignorant people would ever question Chavez as the legitimate leader of Venezuela.

even the BBC certified that it was a clean election, he is high as hell in the polls, even the opposition recognizes it. it wasn't a fraud like the one the bbc certified in Florida
if you really want to stop illegal immigration in America then you need to let the venezuelans choose the leader they want.
Re: rule by decree. another dictator is born.
The BEEB? Omg, that just puts the nail in the coffin. Nobody questions the BEEB on their objectvitiy. Agreed, Chavez is the ruler of the great state nation of Venezuela. Long Live CHAVEZ! WOOO!!!!!111!1
