Pretty interesting, I think. I'm watching this pretty closely because I think the Dems will doom themselves if she gets the nomination. There are plenty of republicans that I'd vote for over her.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20070110-112457-7197r.htm
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's popularity in Democratic presidential-preference polls has fallen in the nation's first caucus and primary states in the face of increasing support for her chief rivals for the 2008 nomination.

...

The New York Democrat, who has been her party's clear front-runner, came in a distant fourth in an Iowa presidential poll of 600 likely voters conducted Dec. 18 to 20, drawing 10 percent in a crowded field of contenders. Mr. Edwards, the Democrats' 2004 vice-presidential nominee, and Mr. Obama were tied in first place with 22 percent each, followed by outgoing Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack with 12 percent.

In New Hampshire, whose first-in-the-nation primary follows the Iowa caucuses, polls showed Mrs. Clinton in a dead heat with Mr. Obama, who was greeted like a rock star in a whirlwind of standing-room-only appearances across the state last month and has since seen his political support skyrocket nationally. Yes. It's called voter fraud. ;)

There are plenty used car salesman people would vote for before her. I don't think she can win the female vote across the board which is pretty much the only way she can win. Her husband had no problem winning the female vote but of course we know why ;)

I disagree. I think she would take a huge portion of the female vote.... including some female republicans. That is why I think she is such a serious contender, and why she will ultimately get the nomination.

This is why we might end up seeing Condi Rice running. If the dems put forth Hillary, then they capture a huge segment of the country right off the bat. Women outnumber men in the USA by about 52-48%. But if the repubs put Condi up against Hillary, this levels that effect out. Furthermore, Condi being black adds a whole new dimension to it.

Sounds far fetched now.... but I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the dem ticket had Hillary on it, and the repub ticket had Condi. Maybe as vice-pres?

Re: Hilary Losing Ground in New Hampshire & Iowa

I think Hillary would pull a lot of the vote from women, but there are some women that don't like her. I've spoken to some that do not like her, but that's definitely less than who would vote for her.

What's with Al Gore? I think he should try and run again and has a good shot. We all remember he actually got more votes than Bush in '00. His movie is selling well on Amazon.com and maybe he's learned not to say crazy things like creating the internet or Kerry's off to Iraq you go if you're not in school.

I still don't see Obama as a strong contender. He seems more flash than substance.

And as for Condi - I don't think she'll run and hope she doesn't. I don't see her as being a strong Secretary of State or where she stands on issues. When I hear her speak, she parrots the President and sticks to the talking points.

McCain vs Hillary or Gore makes the most sense to me at this point.

Al Gore won't run because if he does, he'll lose his legacy as the man who's 'presidency was stolen'. quite a legacy, and running would simply erase that. His movie is selling well? So what? It's full of shit anyways. Michael Moore has more facts in his documentaries than Al Bore does.
I still don't see Obama as a strong contender. He seems more flash than substance.
Yup. Too young and not experienced enough. There are more experienced players out there than he. But it's too hard to think nowadays, and people will vote on trivial things. So basically, while I agree with you, I'm sure the Democrats will continue pushing him as the new JFK. They've always been the popularity-over-principle group anyways.

I think she's been through enough of this presidency that she knows better to keep out.

The problem is that in this day and age, being president is a horrible, HORRIBLE job. Your life is over. You have no privacy ever again. People want to kill you. Destroy your character. Attack your family. Attack your dog. There is no end to it. And it's only getting worse as time goes by.

If you are a smart person in America..... then chances are you can find 1000 other professions which earn you more money, give you a higher quality of life, give your family a higher quality of life, allow you to maintain your privacy, give you more free time, less stress, etc.... So we no longer see the best people running for office. The best people are smart enough to know better than to subject their families to that kind of treatment.

the republicans aren't principled, or they would be pushing for a limited government, tax cuts, et al. they aren't doing this. Principled? hell no.

are you STILL assuming i'm a republican?

Although there are plenty of women that would vote for Hilary just because she's a woman, there are also plenty of women that wouldn't dream of voting for her because they have no respect for a woman that stays with an admitted -- and frequent -- adulterer. There's probably more of the former than the latter, but I don't think her status as a woman will necessarily have all of womankind flocking to her. My opinion.

I think superdave's right on this one. Condi has been lockstep with Bush from day 1, and was one of the primary architects of the Iraq war. Neither of those things will ingratiate her to the voting public. Add that to the fact that she is an average public speaker at best -- could you imagine her in a debate? I think she'd get creamed -- and I think you've got a recipe for failure.

Thanks Toasty

Her nomination is nothing more than 4 to 8 more years of Republican rule Obama looks like a lot of fun, might be the only person to seriously grab the youth vote and get more youth to actually vote. Still his nomination was would make a great VH 1 show: Who wants to be President. Furthermore, he'll get hammered by the ol school politicos who cut and burn without any feeling, not to mention the whole race thing and how America has historically dealt with the issue, but why not It would make for great TV. Edwards= lame duck, like Gore, like Kerry. No one wants a loser in America Mr T and Flavor Flav 2008 would be a great Pres/VP combo.

OK, and i know i have been unneccessarily calling oyu out recently, but take no offense, i dont mean it.

but this is the comment that drives me nuts. you, and i really mean this, but with ZERO maliciousness, have no say, and shouldnt have a say whom we elect. look around im no bush backer, but too bad, our president has no relation to your life, outside of you watching news, and frankly, you're government is so beyond fucked up and hapless it isnt funny. let americans vote, and live with it, its our choice, he didnt steal the second election(maybe the first). stop calling our leaders assclowns when in fact, our country operates rather well considering population size, partisanship within our government, and a general population of brainwashed morons who cat see past john stewart and bill o reilly. if anyone is an assclown it is the governments of places like sudan, iran, and now, venezula, where, the gov't violates people rights, not just thorugh a warrantless wiretap, but through rather agregious violations of life and liberty. and for as much as we all hate captain retard, he will be gone in 2 years, guaranteed, while the people like chavez work to ensure that they hold on to power and quiet thier opposition. i mean, you could have a better beef with bush if he shut down the democratic party and associated parties whom back them. but he cant.

imagine if we (the collective population of north and central america) went on and on about how the mexican population continued to elect "zzclowns" like fox and calderon, who couldnt fix a flat tire, having people flee thier country, having entire regions descend into violence thanks to unchecked drug cartels, and other things....

sorry rant over, im just sick of people trashing my country because for a period of 6 years an idiot took us into a war on false pretenses, all the while having nearly every other aspect of government operations doing rather well and having literally the best economy we have seen. and frankly, the war in iraq, will only end up forcing governments to work together more often and get on the same page. imagine if i

look man ... just look it like this (sorry for my bad grammar) this rant is very inmature i must say but look it at this way

i don't give a shit about wetbacks in your country .. YOU DO which is fine I understand...

kill them if you want too!! I really don't care, you guys don't care for them either neither do I. I don't care for any expatriate they didn't study they didn't make shit thats why they crossed to earn more money and to all of them who are criminals kill em simple as that. whenever you think about mexico think about this...

"people who live here.. don't give a fuck about expatriates in the US." I want you to stuck this in your brain mate.

and now to continue... I can bash whoever I want to and I believe George Bush is a danger for humanity whenever he decides to invade iran or siria ... let alone the arabs the WHOLE WORLD is going to explode against this.

you said something very brave you said "let americans vote, and live with it, its our choice" great i totally agree but let the iraquis decide what they want for their future, let chavez do whatever the hell he wants with his people... let iran do whatever the fuck he wants too!!!

stop involving in anything that puts your economy in danger for christ sake

Re: Hilary Losing Ground in New Hampshire & Iowa

lets think of the last few times leadershpis went unchecked by international bodies and "held onto power"

the ayatollahs germany, korea, cuba, ottomans,

all the time, war violence and years of economic ruin.

areas where democracy and the so called "american imperialistic intervention" has touched

northern afirca, europe, most of asia, the majority of the american continents. outside of a sicko invading poland in the 40's, what, since modern day organization of countries, has gone wrong in any of these areas? not too much war, constant economic progress, peace above all, respect between disagreeing governments.

im sorry, but if we elect bush, the world knows the american way (terrible choice of wording i know), is that we wont let him take us into chaos, not hang around without the will of the people.

but on the larger scale, i think the collection of asian, europeans, african nations, and american states owe it to everyone, not just our own citizens to fight for long term peace and stability. i mean, its the single dumbest arguement EVER< but what happens to the world if, a. the western european nations dont fight back, and b. america and canada dont get involved, to fight for something that benifits everyone.

and to apollo, its sad, you should have more pride than not caring about the expatriots, yuou should be asking why are they leaving? what can we do to stop giving reasons for people to risk thier lives running through a desert to make 100 american bucks a day? why hasnt our government worked with the US, clearly a solid example of many things, inspired from the acts of the europeans, to better Mexico, as opposed to looking outside for reasons to hate a nation that openly looks to help and aid yours? i mean, if we arent, im missing something. we free'd up trade, loosened restrictions on economic development, give you tons of money, both legally through aid, and illegally through ex-pat monies sent back (accounting for nearly 40%) of mexican wealth. its not like there is a military buildup on the texas border and we are getting ready to make it 60 states overall.

i dont criticize most nations, frankly, because most nations are opting to same on the same page in regards to a lot of things, but opt to look at the governments that seek to "de-stabilize" relationships, and provoke simply out of spite. that shit only gets things going worse, hell, look around.................

In the end they and we will fight back. But it will take a god awful lot more than what is happening now to even make us stand up and fight. When we do though....I will be praying for the otherside because they will be annihilated.

so why wait for it to escalate to something that will only due more harm than if it is addressed and fought against now? seriously, think about it.

#792186Post 26 of 29

Re: Hilary Losing Ground in New Hampshire & Iowa

the masses are asses and wont react until it hits them directly on thier door (world regarding terrorism, from the IRA to al queda) tody thoguh, its being played through economics and trade as opposed to uniformed armies marching immediately. its a shame too, because look around, people are dying at unheard of rates and no one cares. seriously, what is gonna happen when something stupid happens and the OPEC nations decide to cut oil from places like the EU, US, china, jpana??? bigger war than we need if we fight for peace and stability now.

#792192Post 27 of 29

I'm afraid the masses must learn the hard way. Its inevitable. Mankind is destined to be stupid, do the stupid thing and kill each other trying to determine who can be the dumbest.

this country has a new administration our president has lots of potential but clearly he is not going to solve a 1000 years of economy problems in six years but as long as he tries to reduce immigration good for him... I still don't give a fuck about ex-pats.
