im sure he will care that in 3 days he has been directly responsible for a 19% decrease in the value of the stocks traded in his country. if that happened here...it would be in the trillions.

yeah, i have, and every single area of the world to embrace it (disregarding oil producing nations) has benifited across the board. thriving economies, peace, growth, lower poverty rates, lower crime, better international relations.

and the more that ppl cry about bush, keep itup, because we'll elect rumsfeld next time. you are from mexico, a country whose GDP includes over 50% of its value from cash sent back to families from those in the USA. cartel wars, your own illegal immigration problem, where, your country just jails them without trial because they arent recognized as citizens, a government that simply tells its citizens to break US laws and actually produces a government sponsored pamphlet on how to cross into texas and arizona illegally..........fix yer own house before you are yelling at your neighbor's way of life.(which actually supports yours)

There's no embracing imperialism when you're colonized or invaded. I have always said this and will never change my stance: capitalism inherently promotes inequality the way it is exercised now.

One example from the Economist: Europe and the US evade taxes in Africa for no less than 500 fucking billion dollars a year. And all we do is preach the blessings of a free market...while we don't have the guts to be honest in our own dealings with the continent. Anyone preaching a liberal market without even thinking about the relations between the developed and developing countries in not worth being heard. Not saying that that is you Sean (you usually think mare than you say), but i'd expect a little more nuanced words from you on this...;)

#789467Post 15 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

tax evasion in africa.,,,

is this a moral problem, or a legal problem.

are US/EU companies operating within the legal limits of each repsective african nation>? than africa needs to change thier laws.

are we illegally (in terms of african law) avoiding tax payments? then it is our problem, as well as thier for allowing certain groups to operate within its borders. send over some cops, and shut the place down. then sue the guilty parties.

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

and last time i looked, everything south of texas has its own government. no colonies or occupations there..... just drug cartels and corrupt governments.

#789472Post 17 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

lol

Well, to you first post: tax evasion in this particular case is our problem. A simple matter of companies taking income inside and outside of Africa together and then putting a larger taxeable income for, for example, Europe in the books and a smaller income in Africa than was originally the case. In a nutshell.

To your second post: colonization isn't necessarily something done with an army, but the conditions set for help by the Worldbank and the IMF for example have been serving as a leash in the past 2 decades. Not to mention that in several case the opening up of an economy to the liberal market has exposed the domestic industries to the more developed and more agressive foreign (Western) industries that have simple competed the domestic ones to death.

I'll kick Europe's and America's ass for not being honest, but I'll kick an African's or southamerican's just as eagerly for being a corrupt asshole and bereaving his people of the prospect of a future with a decent living standard.

I agree, but my ideal system would be somewhere in between...in the ed it doesn't matter what system you have since humans can't let a opportunity to fuck up something theoretically alright pass.

yeah I'm for the golden in between as well...It's just clear that something has to change...'cause right now the world sucks! I don't wanna have any kids in this kind of world...

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

Neither do I. did some research to corruption and developement in Africa and boy...did I feel negative about the future afterwards. I'm convinced we're not going to see any significant improvement on the continent within the next 50 yrs, unless a real change of attitude takes place both over there and here. That is the only possible conclusion for me...development is on all fronts a matter of attitude.

capitalism has never been tried. only socialism has, and we've all seen where that leads to...

#811651Post 29 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

economically speaking, socialism doesnt and cannot lead to growth, as you end up sharing the same resources over and over. you dont grow. the value of the economy just shifts from one hand to another. for it to truly be benificial, it needs a form of capitalism to precede it in order to generate the monetary means to induce a socialism that can create truly equal footing. here, for example, socialism will keep the country's GDP at a constant, but each person will have an equal share if chavez really ends up acheiving his goals. simple explanation that is entirely too general i know.

#811656Post 30 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

No, Communism has never been tried...capitalism has and this is where it led us so far. As for communism I am not a supporter as such, I am a supporter of Socialist Democracy in a way...but it would have to be changed...I wrote a theory about a year ago on this..."A better tomorrow for most" was my title and it was instructions how to make utopia for future generations...it was quite psychotic...it involved murder on a mass scale...

But seriously though neither works so a compromise must be in order for some change...as for communism it can work if the whole world accepts it...that would require some SERIOUS political "re-education".

#811659Post 31 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

if you agree with communism, what will you do when the gov't tells your children what job they will be holding. reaction when your son is told they require him to report to a coal mine and cannot attend college>?

#811692Post 32 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

where has true capitalism existed? I'd be interested to know myself. Perhaps Hong Kong...that's where it has been the closest to true capitalism....where government does not regulate or control any private business, and the free market is truly a free market?

perhaps you're just thinking of a mixed economy?

Even communism can lead to growth of an economy, where the hell do you get that weird idea that socialism is only redistribution in a closed circuit man? That would be reducing it to a higly constrained form of communism IMO. Even a socialist culture can be capitalist at the same time, and while some people refuse to believe it, even capitalism is built on socialist norms (freedom, justice, care). Read about Aristotelian economics if you will, it should explain this in detail. I'm all for capitalism, but with a more pronounced socialist attitude, mostly limited to health care and education. Those should be free sice IMO they constitute a long term investment in the country's economic and social health. When it comes to jobs, it should be more about creating the opportunities rather than only taking care of those that don't have one: there should be a built-in incentive to find work when you don't have it.

I hate people that depend on others and are too lazy to fend for themselves, but those that are genuinely disadvantaged should receive a minimum of support. Otherwise the next best thing to do is put them out of their misery.

True capitalism is Europe colonizing and extracting unprocessed natural resources from Africa and Latin-America. True capitalism is Europe and the US intervening in foreign politics and economies for their own gain via backdoor strategies (Anal Politics IMO). Capitalism is not so much about the govt not intervening, it has rather been about governments being controlled by and acting in the interest of industial elites.

Capitalism in the sense you mean, does not exist: it would be an emotionless economy, in which only robots can survive. Look at yourself for example...you should be aiming for max profit, but all too often you make a choice that does not maximize your productivity or profit, and still you don't feel bad about it. Rather, you often choose different because it makes you feel good, don't you?

#811819Post 35 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

governmental intervention is capitalism? wow, that's news to me....

you make broad assumptions about capitalism when even you yourself admit it hasn't even existed yet.

#811937Post 36 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

this idea about capitalism- that it hasn't existed yet, why do you think thats the case? Because it would be devastating if there was no control whatsoever...no intervention means no taxes, no taxes means no govt!

dont bring up a theory based on the economics of a thousand years ago. its a different entitity now. im with you on healthcare and education, only in one way though. free healthcare and education should be entitled to all, but higher levels should be offered to those who can obtain it. if i can operate more cleanly, or teach better (harvard prof), i should be able to charge whatever i can get. a mixed bag there.

but no, not anymore, a true socialist economy, cannot grow beyond the normal inflationary rates of the country. there is no wealth being created, only re-distributed. i wont say go read some philosopher, ill say go to college for economics and accounting.

#812023Post 39 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

yeah but communism was never designed as an idea to operate in one county!!!

#812033Post 40 of 85

Re: hahaha douche. (chavez)

yes, because when communism conflicts with outside factors not controlled by the communist government, it falters and causes a loss of value becuase a quote un quote capitalist economy will drive the market away from a socialist/commnist country and into a better operating region.

i feel like stewert reginald griffin right now.
