for being a prick and being 100% equal and fair at the same time.

JOE MROSZCZYK

WHO, at boston university, and in response to things like minority grants, funded the caucasion scholarship fund. god, this is like the most liberal, but mirrored image of liberal, thing done by an repub.

and the line of the week "there are plenty of poor white academically gifted students who need the money just as much"

Re: my new hero

[QUOTE] CARLSON: I actually couldn’t agree with you more. I think it’s immoral, but here’s my question. How can people who back race specific scholarships for people of specific races, how can they turn around and attack you for doing the same thing. On what grounds can they attack you and have they attacked you? MROSZCZYK: Well, a lot of people, you know, this is a way to get, you know, minorities into Boston University, or help them to achieve at Boston University, or sort of increase diversity. But, to me, I think diversity is more than just the color of your skin or your ethnicity. I think diversity, especially at a university, should be a diversity of ideas. And being a conservative at Boston University, you know, I’m certainly in the minority here, but there’s no conservative student scholarship. I think the university and I think the American public needs to think about what diversity means. Is it more than just the color of your skin or ethnicity or is it about what ideas and what you bring to the table?

kid's got a point. and god, i hate tucker carlson. someone grab that bow tie and choke the life out of him plz?

Re: my new hero

Couldn't help but notice that the scholarship is open to students who, among other things, are at least 25% Caucasian. That actually describes a few of my friends that you would look at and describe as "black." How funny would it be if one of them were to apply?

Re: my new hero

i love it, and he is right, it really does show the sheer absurdity of equal rights in regards to things like minority scholarships. "we promote equal rights by only giving money to blacks/spanish/asian"

Re: my new hero

On the one hand, I get the point. On the other, this reminds me of those douchebags that apply at Hooters every so often and then sue for discrimination when they don't get the job. Tools.

The real source of the frustration I had when I was looking at college had nothing to do with there being too many ethnic scholarships, and more to do with there being an absolute dearth of need-based scholarships for people who are in the middle and even upper-middle classes -- where you're not poor, but shelling out an extra $20,000+ a year isn't really an option. The thresholds for need-based scholarships are unrealistic as compared to the cost of education, IMO -- at least they were when it was an issue for me.

Re: my new hero

colleges, of all things, should be non for profit in every way, not just on the tax return type, lets face it, some universities are spending money on shit no one needs. hofstra uni, my stomping ground, had a 3 million dollar budget for plants and trees to show diversity....... NONONO....

if the uni's needs physical improvements, the government shoudl pay for it. there should be no "reserve fund"

Most colleges ARE non-profit. I actually can't think of a single one which isn't, off the top of my head.

everyone online college is.

and all of them are. any time you see something advertised, or a sports programme changed, it is all to increase revenue. most colleges maintain funds for various things.

just because you can legally file non profit on a US tax return doesnt neccessarily mean you are really that.

here is a great example of non profit.. the Jimmy V foundation. they have ZERO costs and ZERO expenses. everything that they get is solely from volunteers and donations, and every penny they take in, goes out. no admin costs, no advertising fees, nothing.

Re: my new hero

diversity for the sake of diversity is perversity.

the only true diversity is the diversity of ideas. nothing else, to me, is acceptable.

They're going to be crying when they loose in the playoffs. Big payroll does not = championship.

PS - This thread is way better now that we've hijacked it and are talking baseball.
