Well, the bipartisan Iraq Study Group has issued its report on the situation, and the news is pretty grim, at least if we were to continue on the current path:

The thing is, although the news is not what you want to hear, I actually find it refreshing to finally be openly having this discussion -- pretending that everything is going along just fine and squelching any debate for fear of political fallout has only allowed the situation to deteriorate. Finally, someone has openly said what we have all known for many months now -- that Iraq is a complete mess and we have to change our course -- and now we can do something about it.

Re: Iraq Study Group

so john kerry's solution was wrong? wow, shock to me.

this whole report can be summed up in two words

NO SHIT.

as much as i advocated staying there, and cleaning up our mess, im at the point where i realize that they simply arent worth it. the middle east cant keep its house in order, so either abondon it, take the oil, and keep paying em, or have the collective UN membership grow a pair and impose a HEAVY DUTY martial law for a year or two and rip shit. everyone wants to blame the US for the problems, but there are problems everywhere there and the people are a waste.

So.... as expected, they want to talk to Syria and Iran. Big mistake. If you talk to Iran, and ask them to help.... you no longer have the ability to levy sanctions against their nuclear ambitions. This means that you are signing the OK for Iran to get the bomb.

Of course, Israel can't allow that to happen so before Iran finishes their bomb, Israel is going to attack Iran's production sites. This act will set off a shitstorm in the middle east, and the USA is going to have to come to the aid of Israel.

Re: Iraq Study Group

why cant every single nuclear power site be monitored by a UN group daily. the US, canada, iran, india, etc etc etc... i think if there was a precondition to lifting the UN rules towards obtaining it, most would sign up for it. i mean, could the US really have a problem with iran having nuclear power plants if there was an on site moderation group with nothing but foreign nationals on it?

we have the indian point plant ehre in NY, and if iran wanted to inspect i'd be cool.
