so, and im only roughly saying this, not giving links, you can look it up.

chavez..... so he has threatened gov't employees who plan on voting for the opposition with termination, he has taken both land AND assests from people to be nationalized, allied himself with iran, and now........

 1. he is trying to get the constitution ammended to disban term limits and
 2. he personally released a story that he stopped an assination of his opponent....

to me, its a grass roots start to his attempt to hold onto power.

its weird too, i kinda liked him and his ideas for awhile until he proved he is nothing more than the next nutbag, but now, im seeing a trend that he isnt planning on leaving any time soon. putting down his oppositions voices, firings, ammassing military power......

Re: the possible beginning of another dictator

if you take a deeper look into the press in venezuela, you begin to realize that Chavez has completely killed freedom of the press there quite a while ago. This is no surprise.

And Putin is working on that in Russia, too.

Re: the possible beginning of another dictator

Yup. Both are real autocrats, and as much as Ilike Chavez for trying to put up some Southamerican counterweight again Western dominance, he is very likely to slip into some form of dictatorship. But hey, the Venezuelans chose, they still have the choice to get rid of him. Or not. Then they'll have to fight.

Damn...I just caught myself not giving a fuck about it anymore and thinking: "let them fight for real freedom, maybe then they'll learn to appreciate it" and "How come people are always stupid enough to let themselves be assed around by narcissistic overcompensating pricks with a bad childhood?"

The other side is: I'm pretty comfy around here with my freedom that was fought for by my grandparents...what the hell did I do to deserve it?

boy, could you imagine how that would be received? I bet the republicans would fight it, because, as an incumbent, they'd have to run him again.

Re: the possible beginning of another dictator

Chavez is nothing more than a despot wanna be dictator who uses a legitimate means to gain power and then change the system ensuring his continued hold of power.

Its will be a sad day for all those who have died for democracy over the past 100 years when he gets his way and annoints himself leader for life.

The guys a loon!

That's why I don't buy gas from Citgo.

My babies get Shell or Chevron, 93 octane only. ;)

USA octane ratings are different than the rest of the world. We use the (RON+MON)/2 method. Rest of the world uses RON method.

So... 93 octane in the USA is about like 98 octane elsewhere.

Some stations around here sell 102 octane gas, but it's like $4+ a gallon. Besides, my cars both call for 91 octane or higher. There is little point in using higher octane than your minimum rating. So no need for 102 in my cars.
