This is just classic. And to be expected. Ahmadinejad is probably loving this.

So to the extent that we've fucked things up in Iraq, the natural tendency now is to look beyond the US to others for help. So, Iraq is talking with...the next biggest kid on the block over there - Iran.

Now Adhmadinejad will step in and get a chance to air his humanitarian side and win that much more respect in many peoples' eyes around the world, all while sticking it to the US and elevating our national profile as bumbling idiots. All this while he exploits whatever subtle opportunities there are to solidify his power and influence over Iraq and the whole region. And if/when the US leaves now...guess who will be there to help a brotha out?

Is this what Bush was going for when he said "mission accomplished?"

Iran is responsible for the violence in Iraq. It is insane to be asking for their help to stop it.

woudlnt go that far, they might have a helping hand in regards to money and loose borders, but i put more of the blame on assholes who want thier sect in power and will go down swinging if they dont.

The problem is.... we are trying to prevent Iran from getting nuclear arms. We are threatening sanctions and even the possibility of invasion to stop them.

If we seek Iran's help in Iraq, we no longer have those options available. Why would Iran help us if we are busy threatening sanctions?

So.... by asking for Iran's help in Iraq, we are basically signing the OK for their nuclear weapons program. We are also signing a death sentence for Israel.

Bad idea.

and while the jews and christians may have ruled that region for many years prior to muhammad, those arabs have been there throughout.

I disagree.

Israel is a tiny country. It would take fewer than a handful of nuclear weapons to annihilate the entire country. Iran, by contrast, is huge and sparsely populated. While Israel has nuclear weaons, they do not have enough to sufficiently destroy Iran. So, there is no nuclear deterrant for Israel if Iran gets the bomb.

Israel will have to attack Iran before they go nuclear. They have no other choice.

So.... if the USA asks for Iran's help in Iraq, that means we are ensuring that Israel will be attacking Iran soon.... which is going to spiral the entire Middle East into worse problems that we can even comprehend now.

I WAS talking about preemptive strikes by the Israelis, like they did to Iraq back in 1981.
