MOSCOW, Russia (AP) -- A Russian journalist known for her critical coverage of the war in Chechnya was shot to death Saturday in the elevator of her apartment building in Moscow, in a killing prosecutors believe could be connected to her investigative work.

Anna Politkovskaya was a tireless reporter who had written a critical book on Russian President Vladimir Putin and his campaign in Chechnya, documenting widespread abuse of civilians by government troops.

^^^ Read up on the real deal Chechnya via alternative news sources, that shit will make you sick to the bone. Ethnic cleansing, arbitrary murder, rapes, ... The hostage case in School 1 in Beslan was ended bloody on purpose and when Chechnyan rebels held Russians hostage in a theatre in Moscow, the invertention teams used an experimental nerve agent which was in the testing phase. Result: all rebels dead plus a shitlaod of Russian civilians.

note: I'm refusing to call the Chechnyan separatists "terrorists" since I got a clearer picture of what the Russian armed forces are pulling in Chechnya.

I back you up on this Kinky. But somehow the world turns their head away from this. I once heard, seen or read something about a former russian minister. He was just installed after the elections. The new government was invited to get acquaintanced with some influential industrials (read oil magnates). During the meeting the whole new government was friendly told to make decissions the way the want or else.... This guy couldn't cope with the threats and resigned in no-time. It makes you wonder what influence evil forces have behind the screens.

As long as Europe will depend on Russia for gas, oil, titanium and other ressources, we will close our eyes to the "internal politic" of Mr Poutine. For the US, I think that the fact that Russia hasn't said anything about the interventions in Afganistan and Irak allowed them to do the same things in Chechnya. We are living in a sick egocentric world. :evil:
