OK, they already have 1.700 troops in Lebanon (the UNIFIL force has currently a total of 2.000), but still...
I was surprised by the Germans as well. Angela Merkel said earlier on that Germany will not send ground troups, but that they will contribute in another way (free sauerkraut?). Reason: 60 years after WWII they don't want to confront the German soldiers with the IDF troops. Sounds like a cheap excuse to me...
Anyway, it makes me kinda feel good that our little shit country will contribute to the expansion of UNIFIL. Probably no combat troops since we already participate in peace keeping forces in five countries and we're kinda running out of soldiers who can shoot a gun (uhum). But we'll be there with the Navy, the Medical Division and most likely our squad of C-130's.
Still a long way to go in order to reach the projected total of 15.000 troops...

is it that, or has there been a growing feeling of ''fuck this shit'' regarding the middle east. its tough to say, but the overwhelming majority of people of i have spoken to, basically are that way. its a never ending headache whereas we either let bad things happen and stay away, or get involved in an attempt to solve it, all the while allowing closet groups like hamas and hezz to re arm, plan and survive.

as long as WE are there trying to FIX things...these groups will flourish...WE need to stay the fuck out of there....our involvment is causing these 'bad things' to happen.... how has that still not been understood...isnt that what most of this rage goes back to...

WE means the world at large outside of that swill pit situated between india and turkey.we have to try to fix things because they spread out. look at all the regions bordering the middle east. islamic militant groups are causing problems pretty much every where along the border. do we deny they are fighting in kashmir, africa, chech, phillipines, no. no you cant. they are trying to spread thier idealogies through shear firepower. so yes, WE need to get involved before its too late.
