it's this very paranoia that you have about the world striking down upon you just because they have the potential/ability to that is so ridiculous that you hop skip and jump from country to country blasting them for their Nuclear technologies when the US itself has MORE Nuclear deposits than the rest of the world put together.

First it was banning imports from India for them doing Nuclear tests, then roughing relations with Pakistan who did their tests in retaliation, then N Korea, followed by Iran, now back to N. Korea..... I mean wtf ? This "entire planet out to get you" syndrome must come to an end or its not going to make international relations / tensions any better / lower.

And the media blasting this shit over and over like its a life or death situation are just being Shepards to a herd of the population that comes into forums and makes posts like this.

Look at how many countries that DO have nuclear power and have never made such a hue and cry about it either in magazines or over the internet. Its honestly ridiculous. And to make it worse, the powers that be in this nation are the only ones to ever use it against mankind in the history of this planet ... is that what is adding to the paranoia ?

To add to the mess, there are other countries pouncing on this bandwagon.

In the golden words spoken before... "We have nothing to fear but fear itself"

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

what I don't understand is why are they arming? do people really think that the United States would attack them? O wait, maybe the invasion of Iraq put this fear in them. In all honesty, why can everyone just get along. Its bad enough we have to deal with global warming, but if this gets out of hand by an idiot launching a missle, then all hell will break loose. Can't the world go one day with no news. 1 day without nonsense.

#657931Post 5 of 53

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

We have nothing to fear, but fear itself? I fear nuclear weapons that have the ability to kill me. Probably an irrational fear of mine. Shall we simply pretend that the nuclear weapons don't exist? If I wish away or don't think about such things, I'm sure they'll just go away.

I'm sure we should all just calm down since there's no way the peaceful North Koreans would attack anyone. Only the warmongering Americans attack people in the 21st century. I mean the North Koreans are just trying to protect themselves from terrorists like George Bush, Tony Blair, and Condi Rice. If Bill Clinton was still President, the world would be a safer place and 9/11 probably wouldn't have even happened. You know that the government really blew up the towers and fired a missle at the Pentagon to start a war.

and that too in the same breath .... chances of you dying in a car wreck are far worse (and real) than the chances of you becoming a victim of a Nuclear Holocaust. Does that mean you're gonna stop driving and read up on every article ever printed on car mishaps ?

Bill Clinton is also responsible for 9/11. He had a chance to get Osama and didn't do shit.

Also, the more we focus on nuclear weapons and war, the less we focus on the enviornment. I'm not a tree hugger, but by our old age, this will be a nasty place to live.

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

ummmm guys i didnt mean it like that, i meant that maybe the PR machine that so eagerly is throwing oil countries under the spotlight when they dont even have nuke capabilities in the picture while north korea tells the world fuck you and shows us thier nuke capability saying ""we're gonna launch, we're gonna launch"" while the leadership in pyonyang (spelling) seems to be looking for a fight. iran wont do shit on the nuke front, no matter how much they talk, they stand to lose so much if they ever did nuke isreal. that guy is just a little shit tough guy who talks and talks and the first time he fights he gets knocked out. im more worried about the guy standing in the back, quiet and ready to go.

and for those who are actually afraid, dont worry, because we literally have the biggest dog in the fight. god forbid it ever did happen, our (the US, EU, japan, china) response would be up there with nagasaki.

And your point is, what? That car wrecks happen more often than nuclear holocausts. I think most of us could figure that out. Thanks for the insight.

Doesn't mean that we should ignore countries testing nuclear missiles with the range to reach America. Especially if this country, North Korea, has already threatened to attack America.

Do you wear flannel and carry a shotgun in the back of your truck ? Cause that SERIOUSLY is the most retardedly ignorant response EVER.

The US has Nuclear capacities to attack EVERY SINGLY COUNTRY on the planet. What is your justification for that Dave ?

Not to mention the presence of serious Biological weapons that a DROP of a certain chemical on human skin can finish a person in 5 minutes. Are you saying that the Military's investment in that is ok ?

What justifies and makes it ok for YOU to point fingers at others when its happening in FULL SCALE over here ?

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

not the justification brother, just the reason. thats why they were made. no one likes it. and we were better off before they made em.

i would be more worried about NK selling a missle casing to a rogue group before i worry about them actually using it as a nation.

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

no, but i get my bloodtests taken care of. listen, im not in the boat where people say they WILL nuke us, cuz thats plain stupid and the next nuke wont be dropped until the next world war where major alliances are on opposite sides. (if even then) but i started this thread with the thought---"why are we seeing all the shit about iran when they dont have a nuke warhead yet, and thier leader is really just a shit talker, when NK already had nuke capability, has the missles and now has one that they are openly flaunting as a missle that can hit anywhere in the world." and frankly, thier leadership gives me the feeling that they would love to ""lose"" a missle casing and somehow it shows up in al queada's hands, or even another rogue group like the basque separtists, chechnya, or for instance, a group of young men in toronto.

and in regards to the warheads of the UN security council, there are enough safeguards for me personally. they are all accounted for since the USSR downfall, they are watched by not only US and respective troops, but by a UN sponsored team of international military.

all im saying is that captain retard in the white house and his evil pupeteers shouldnt be going on and on about iran when this NK is already where we dont want a nation to go....... unaccountable gov't, terrible human rights within, and telling the international community to fuck off. if they wanted to do the testing correctly, they would do what india did a few years ago and inform everyone about all the details, invite monitors to oversee, and quell any bad feelings,.

And don't forget, this same set of facts existed -- except for the ICBM part -- when we decided that Iraq, a country that we thought might have nukes, was a more pressing issue, putting us in the uneviable situation we're in now...

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

yeah well, they openly are telling us they have them. iraq denied it, but lets be frank, we did find biological agents, and have heard defectors saying they flew them out. i dont care anymore about the middle east, they have shown nothing but the facts that thier religion in general is what matters most and frankly, its based in dark ages. they havent shown any reason for someone to help them, and in general, are just backwards. if it werent for thier oil, they would be viewed internationally like african nations. ie we would just scold and never have to act cuz there isnt any incentive to get in there.

this whole planet needs a mass plague outbreak. kill off a few billion.

#658565Post 28 of 53

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

kinda my point. NK is pointing the gun. iran is the one talking shit. either way we all need to accept the fact that if NK does indeed launch a missle, and it enters US, japanese, or chinese airspace, then our government or the respective one, will likely look at it as an act of aggression and they will throw us right into another conflict, this one with a tad more merit than the persian arguement.

fucked up.

The way I see it, this is nothing more than North Korea saying "Look at us...we've got them too!!!" :EvilFlic: Which is really kinda sad if you think about it...keeping up with the Jones'.

And Kamal...the difference is the US doesn't tout having these weapons, and then say that other countries should be "wiped off the map." It all comes down to rationality...who am I going to trust the fate of this world to.....us....or a radical, militant Islamic state?? Not much of a decision, is it??

North Korea has test-fired at least six missiles, including a long-range Taepodong-2, despite repeated warnings from the international community.

US officials said the Taepodong missile - thought capable of reaching Alaska - failed shortly after take-off, while the others fell into the Sea of Japan.

The US called the tests "provocative" and Japan has announced sanctions. The UN Security Council is due to hold an emergency meeting later on Wednesday to discuss the developments.

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

Well, even if NK succeeds in getting the Tae Po Dong operational (blew up after 30 secs after launch), it would take years before they can cook up a nuke to mount on that thing.

Imo it was just monkey see monkey do after Iran gave the finger to the international community in order to get some concessions from the UN...

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

This recent launch highlights two things, IMO:

  1. N. Korea does not have the technology, on its own, to be a serious threat to the US -- although it is much closer to being a threat to Japan and South Korea. Part of the threat with North Korea, though, is that they would have no qualms with selling a warhead to anyone, so the fact that they may not be able to get a nuke onto US soil with an ICBM doesn't necessarily mean that there is no threat to the US from NK-manufactuered weapons.
  2. The problem with North Korea is not going to go away on its own, and they are going to continue to poke the international community until they either get concessions of some sort or this matures into a real conflict.

I think it would be folly for us to say, "Well, they clearly can't reach us, so let's not worry about it right now." We did that a few years ago and opted to go into Iraq instead, and in the meantime, NK is a step closer to having the ability to land a nuke on our doorstep. The longer we wait to address this problem, the closer they're going to get until one day, we're going to find ourselves staring down a madman that doesn't have the same sense of restraint that keeps the other nuclear powers of the world from actually using the damn things.

Re: screw iran, this is what we need to worry about.

Though the US sees this as a threat, and it is, why else would a country whose entire male population who belongs to the World’s second largest military need a fucking long range ballistic missle??? Anyways, N. Korea has always been the benched bitch there in Asia. All of the surrounding nations have tolerated them and China only because they feel they have to support a fellow communist country. However, remember when the US withdrew to the south of the DMZ after the Korean War? This was only after China stepped in and supported N. Korea; however, the stipulation set by China are that N. Korea must not invade any surrounding countries. N. Korea knows that if they sling any sort of munitions over their borders, they will be on their own, without China’s support. N. Korea is simply complaining b/c they did not get the same deal as Iran did towards domestic nuclear development. So shoot off some missiles to get the worlds’ attention. BTW, what kind of missle program would test 3 types of missiles in just one day? Hot Air if you ask me, but cause for concern in the future.

Absolutely hot air, and more political than actual current threat, no question. I do think, though, that the time to do something about NK -- whatever that "something" may be -- is now rather than months or years from now. We have a lot more options at our disposal now than we might going forward. They probably already have more leverage today than they did a few years ago when it was announced that they had developed nuclear weapons.

Does NK really have the world's second largest military? Didn't know that...
