Re: Anyone here still for the war?

you cant question whether Sadams Regime tortured anyone!! Its complete fact WITHOUT any case to argue otherwise.

However - thats not why Bush and Blair went to war. The War was wrong and still is.

Re: Anyone here still for the war?

idiot. -10

 1. WMD's -- could be hidden, could be in syria, iran etc. we will never know, but there are at least 2 high ranking baath party generals who defected and say that converted civilain airliners were used to transport chemical materials to iran.
 2. al queda is hurting big time, they are hiding in a lawless region and thier finances have been attacked drastically.
 3. only tree hugging pussies cry about the torture, because given the oppurtunity, 95% of the ppl we ""tortured""(by allowing dogs to bark and making them strip) would have put a bullet in you if given the oppurtunity if you were in a uniform.(while if we were captured for say being gay we would be exectued)

way to go.

at least if you are going to make the case against what is wrong about it, you could mention the lack of a proper plan, the delay in sending troops there, the methods we are using to court civilian appeal, funding, over spending etc. but you asked 3 questions about going to war, which mostly were reliable for awhile. if you dont think saddam, at one point after bush announced, but before troops landed, had weapons or chemicals, then i cant take it anymore.

bin laden has resorted to courting people for roadside bombings of THIER OWN PEOPLE. the taleban is now a guerilla movement too. so i guess there was progress.

oh yeah, a dictator who killed about 3 million over the last 3 decades is in jail.

im not for the war, i say fuck the islamic law world at this point, but ppl like you think nothing good happened, but a lot of good did. dont be retarded.

Not disputing the fact that Saddam had WMDs or tortured people - just questioning whether invading the country, using WMDs and torturing people was the correct response.

Re: Anyone here still for the war?

I would been fine with most everything that has happened if the US government would just come out and say. "Look, we were wrong about a couple of things, but we're doing the best we can.". But its like 1984, big brother doing whatever they please. To this day, few things have made me more angry than people calling Kerry a flip flopper about his opinion on the war. Why is changing your mind after learning new information inferior to being bullheaded and refusing to adapt to new information?

Hey! Sounds like thesightless now admits the war wasn't perfect but is still whining about everyone who said it was a dumb, stupid and crazy idea from the very beginning.

As usual, lots of bark but no bite.

Re: Anyone here still for the war?

My view is that the war has been and will be a big mistake. Post 911, the majority of the world stood by the US. But Iraq fucked it all up. We got rid of one enemy only to create thousands more and segregated the US from the rest of the world. I think a better choice would have been to let the UN take care of things. That is why the UN was created.

one sec here.

first, i have no problem with islam or any relgion. they are inherently a great thing. my beef is why are we even bothering any more>? we tried to help them, thier own people are fighting eac h other in an effort to make us look bad. the whole region has this idea that islamic law is held above all else. ok, no problem here, it can be held above all else, but on your soil, not anyone else's. they are seriously stuck int he stoneage when a guy who leaves teh country, converts, and comes back for a legal hearing over child custody, then his family turns him in and 2 countries want him dead.... yeah, normal. nothing like a woman getting raped and impregnated, then being sentenced to death for having a kid out of wedlock...

but this dumb fucking war is like trying to fight an invasion of bugs without knowing where the nest is. and the people we are trying to help are refusing to help themselves. i have yet to hear about any iraqi citizen turning in an insurgent.

back to the quote. the war did have good ideas behind it in the beginning, my beef is how our malfunctioning government, thorugh infighting, bullshit spin, and partisan bullshit has managed to fuck up part of it outside of the fact that we still wear uniforms. its the execution of the war and its planning that bite me in the wrong way. personally, i would just pull out and go on TV and say ""you are on your own now"" to the entire region including you know who.(hint::not muslim))

everyday we have to listen to hillary clinton telling us how bad we are doing, and then listen to whatever monkey the republican side throws out there tell us its going well.

you know what ""they are both right and wrong"" there are wondeful things happening via humanitarian works and terrible things happening because we cannot seem to secure even one square mile of the land. shit we build a road to a hospital, the insurgents blow it up, and then opponents of the US say its our fault a person died when the bomb went off to blow up the road,

at this point. just leave. leave em be they dont want our help. if anything it will lat the US governemtn work on what they should be """the united states of america"""

not the rogue nation run by a cleric or general who seized power through fighting. whine all you want, this country, for better or worse, elected bush, twice. he didnt rise up and seize power. and i dont even like the guy. but there are people i hate a whole lot more.

YUP

if we stopped with the taleban, there would be a different view on our country, our government would be working together like they were when captain commando got elected the first time around, and frankly the goddamn whino's would have shut the fuck up years ago.

Re: Anyone here still for the war?

If the US pulls out now any chance as a taxpayer I can get a partial refund on unused resources?

Bush has bankrupted every business he's been involved in This business (our US government) looks headed toward the same fate Long as their is money to be made This war will continue while all the politician and friends involved in war economy based businesses are laughing all the way to the bank.

Re: Anyone here still for the war?

I don't think we should leave now that we're in the war. However, if we could go back in time, I bet most people would re-think about going to war with Iraq. Many people including me however agree with the war in Afghanistan.

Re: Anyone here still for the war?

What war?

The US lied about reasons for the invasion of Iraq and as a result an entire nation has been devastated. Thousands of Iraqi men, woman and children have been murdered and thousands more seriously injured and wounded.

Over 2300 US soldiers have also been killed and many more seriously injured and wounded.

And knowing all of this, how the hell can anyone in their right mind suggest, that the invasion of Iraq was or still is a good idea?

#601266Post 31 of 39

Re: Anyone here still for the war?

when soldiers sign up tp be soldiers they get $30,000 a year because they are paid to die.. its bad business if you have a huge army and no war.. wars are never popular. I hate that all those people have died as well but you have to trust that they are making the right decision on the war on terror. This war is just the staging point for the big one that is about to happen with Iran and Saudi Arabia. I still think it was a good idea but we won't see the benefits for at least 10 more years..

Re: Anyone here still for the war?

all of it.. I don't believe that the direction that Iraq had was the right direction with Saddam Hussein as their leader. He was a murderer of his own people. That will not help humanity in our purpose here. I believe our purpose here is to be the best humans we can be while respecting the Earth. Having a dictator like that only hurts the world as a whole. You can't allow someone who is evil like that be in charge. The people that have the power to make a difference must because that is their responsiblity. I know that the reasons might be about oil but that is because we humans have created this thing called money. Money is our downfall. I hate that we have to have a financial stake in something in order to fix it. But that is the nature of the beast that we live in. I just wish Africa had oil under it so we could start fixing there.

That's the vote from viewers of the popular BBC travel programme “Holiday”. And on the other side of the Atlantic, readers of the biggest travel magazine in the US gave the thumbs-up to four of South Africa’s premier tourist destinations.

It's been a good week for SA tourism “products”. On Sunday night, “Holiday” placed Cape Town fifth in its rundown of top destinations, “50 Places To See Before You Die”.

Cape Town was the only city to be named in the top five, beating Sydney, New York, Venice and Paris – not to mention famed attractions like India’s Taj Mahal, Egypt’s Pyramids and Australia’s Ayers Rock.
