Hamas official: Group will make Islamic law a source for legislation

A senior Hamas official told Canada's Globe and Mail on Friday that the new government the group will form will make sharia, or Islamic law, a source of law in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. He said the government will modify the existing Palestinian education system to and institute a more Islamic curriculum, and will separate boys and girls.

Sheikh Mohammed Abu Tir told the paper that that as long as Israel continues occupying Palestinian lands, the struggle against the Jewish state would continue. He also said Hamas "would not go to foreign donors on bended knee" if aid to the Palestinian Authority is withdrawn.

Abu Tir told the Globe and Mail that the first act of the newly elected Palestinian Legislative Council would be the introduction of sharia as a source for legislation.

Re: The future is bright. . . the future is. . . .

To build a state on religion is not a good thing, that´s for sure. But what will this change?? Before that the Hamas bombed unofficially as the radical institution of Palestine, now they are official. Maybe that´s the chance to get the Hamas out of their hiding and confront them officially with their mistakes.
