Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
It's all about spreading freedom and democracy.
What they said is just un American.
Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
in other news, the sun rises in the east, the earth revolves around the sun and white people are still afraid of black people.
Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
Welcome to 2006, we're already in Iraq and both Democrats and Republicans agree we should finish the job there. Let's focus on Iran and preventing another terrorist attack.
Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
No one is saying to back out. Its only a bit of insight of how this adminstration really operates, for those of you that continue to live in denial.

Yet you defend these guys till you're blue in the face. Please help me understand your position :?::?::?:
Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
It's been setup so that criticism is considered un-american. And if you're not pro-american, you're obvioiusly a terrorist. Terrorist is just a synonym for vague enemy these days. It has very little to do with actually terrorizing people anymore.

There's a difference between "defend[ing] these guys" and seeing through partisan bullshit.
All is not black or white, my friend.
Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
that , and i dont defend them. i didnt want to go to iraq, i dont like bush in general, hated kerry more and think a lot of what is done is wrong. because i dont neccessarily thinki we should pull out right now is different. we fucked em up royally. took out a government, and did tons of damage. we are obligated to help them to rebuild, at least to the point of where they were before hand.
although the reasoning is wrong for being, i will tell you that you are a moron if you dont think we did any good things. a complete moron no less. we did rebuild their helthcare, schooling and are trying to rebuild the police, but those who know thye lost power are killing the cops. we are funding roads, utilities, water cleansing, massive agricultural prodjects, etc ( go look up what the great iraqi midlands were like before the 80's when saddam had all the water diverted out of them because the people there didnt back him, HINT, they were an agricultural source of many foods).
i dont back bush's buddies, but i hate when people say shit completly ignoring the good things. and frankly , the one thing i defend lately is the wire taps. they arent tapping anyone around here. like i said, they are tapping ppl form the midlle east. sad, but neccessary to at least try to stop another attack. i would rther they took xtra precautions to save us rather than stop short.
Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
one more thing, because they share different views than others, doesnt mean they are wrong, they are just different. we all know iraq was bullshit. few ppl dont.
every administration does the same fucking thing for whatever cause they want. i dont like bush, didnt like clinton. im still looking for the third option.

I though the thing about the taps was that they're tapping and keeping in check more than just Middle-Eastern ppl mate...there were reports about some small theme groups as well, and more other people or groups.
Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
It's a domestic spying program without judicial consent. That's the real contreversy. It wouldn't even be a big deal if they went to the judicial branch (that's why it's there, checks and balances, remember?) and showed reasons why such and such a person is a threat and why they need to be spied upon. However, Bush doesn't think evidence is necessary these days.

More often than not I want to disagree with Shaun... but more often than not he's right. I like that somehow.
Re: False connection between 911 and Iraq
heheh.
Well, who of you did at one point seriously connect Iraq to 9/11 and was convinced that it had weapons of mass destruction?
I'll try and edit the first post with a poll on this one, because i've gotten a bit curious about this.
Other than that: finishing the job is fine, but I'm afriad Iraq will be left with a fake democracy in the end, and I'm really not sure what I prefer: A crippled Saddam or this servant to US/UK interests...

its not that you cant beleive it. but we cannot 100% ensure that they didnt have them and in the 4 mounth period between announcment and invasion, they they didnt, move hide or destroy them. not that they DID< but they might have....
shit we have found jets, airplanes and buildings in the sand.
