What do you'll think of him? At least this guy was a judge at some point and has judicial experience. Although the Democrats may object to him being too conservative.

It's all a bit humorous. If people were wondering what side Harriet Miers leaned on various issues...well...now they don't have to wonder anmore, because Alito is about as far right as it gets. Im thinking a lot of senators will wish they had not been so hard on Miers.

He has a stellar judicial record, one that Harriet Miers doesn't have. The senators bailed on Miers because she couldn't explain her philosophy regarding the constitution.

She was clueless. Alito's 15 year record of practicing constitutional law sets him above most in this country. His philosophy is one that respects judicial restraint, and respects the role of the judiciary.

A great pick.

Re: Samuel Alito, Nominated for Supreme Court

The democrats hate anyone with judicial restraint. That's why Chuck Schumer will complain that the judges that uphold restraint want to somehow take us 'back further into time', because the democrats want a court that moves forward with 'fairness' and 'equality'. An evolving constitution is what they want to acheive. Schumer uses the smokescreen by saying the 'extremists' on the far right want to reverse civil rights for everyone. Show me a judge that is opposed to civil rights, really. It's absurd. It's all a smokescreen. That's why they wanted Harriet Miers. She has no idea what judicial restraint is. That explains Harry Reids positive remarks of Miers. She was a trial lawyer, not a judge. Hell, even Harry Reid a couple months ago called for a politician to be nominated for the spot. Not a judge, a politician.

This exposes the type of court they dream of.

An originalist court is an enemy of the left. A court full of Ginsburgs or Breyers implements fairness for everyone. And since the left can't implement their agenda through the legislature, they have to use the courts. Anyone can look at the 14th amendment, and instead of passing law per the legislature, we can shape and mold the 14th into whatever we want.

The constitution isn't an organism. It's a document. Not to be molded to ones fitting via the court.

pay attention now. cause we are going to see EVERYTHING that is wrong with our leadership. it was OK for clinton to put a liberal up there, but not OK for the other way (and vice versa). chuck schumer is a joke btw, the fact that most of us NY'ers are very liberal is the only reason he is in office, that and a lack of a remotely decetn NY candidate. and im somewhat of a liberal, just not fiscally, which is why i am no fan of bash, but again,. we are about to see everything that is wrong with US government and the ""whats in it for me"" / ""IOU"" attitudes of our senators and rep's/:what

Chuck the Schmuck.

It takes a special kind of guy to do what he does. And I don't mean special in a good way. He constantly preaches pathetic propoganda on a daily basis.

Didn't you know though? During Clinton's tenure, putting a trial lawyer(Ruth Ginsburg) up for nomination was 'mainstream'. Albeit she is for legal prostitution and lowering the bar for legal sexual conduct to age 12.

Yea, she's mainstream...

Re: Samuel Alito, Nominated for Supreme Court

The smear campaign has started. I noticed the media is tacitly saying that Alito is a mob judge. And Democrats say the quick nomination was to get attention off Scooter.
