Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.

Yours,

Michael Moore

even if you don't like the way morre goes about his work he asks many excellent questions of bush.

i think the majority of the american people have no confidence in him after this piece of inept & careless governance.

bush is a complete twat & should stand down.

"" hey mike!!! the bandwagons here!!! want to make more money while telling your gullible fans that's its really about the truth according to you?""

stop reading his slanted shite. he is the same exact person as bill oreilly and anne coultier. go read the testimonials from the ppl and troops who are actually there. he is an oppurtunistic twat. he was quiet for awhile there.

its funny how he campions his uber left buddies as pro- US job types while the guys he backs at every oppurtune time are the same ones who voted for 1. Nafta, 2. WTO, 3. most favored status for china. but he wont tell you that.

EDIT as i find it when i get time.

facts of the time

 1. clinton pres.
 2. dem majority take this into effect when you look at numbers
In the final tally in the House, 132 Republicans and 102 Democrats voted for NAFTA, while 156 Democrats, 43 Republicans, and one independent voted against it. In the Senate, 34 Republicans and 27 Democrats voted for the agreement, while 10 Republicans and 28 Democrats voted against it.
weird here, but far from surprising. weird in that it was daschel who got the bill moving. i can only think it was the repub's shot to the unions here. i dont know, i wont claim to know.
President Clinton himself said on November 10th that NAFTA "has become the symbol of where we want to go in the world."
john kerry and john edwards both voted for all three items and against alaskan oil drilling. gephart too.

basically im saying ignore what politicians say and watch what they do. dont listen to anyone with an agenda. its all skewed. i have some works on it at home. will look later.

Re: Michael Moore's open letter to president Bush 2.9.2005

Rescuing us all from truth its thesightless!!!

Whether or not you like Moore, he was no fan of Clinton. In fact, he backed Nader in 2000 instead of Gore.

The only reason that he backed Kerry/ Edwards in 2004 is GWB. He said as much on Bill Maher's HBO show.

He took a lessor of two evils approach, IMO.

Oh, BTW you will notice that he posted that letter on 9/2. I am guessing that he wrote it on 9/1? So that seems timely.

Re: Michael Moore's open letter to president Bush 2.9.2005

i hate moore witha passion. he is no good to anyone outside of mcdonalds. he doesnt really lie, but he omits a ton of facts to make his points better. dont forget the cut/paste jobs he did with bowling and the heston speach which he denied for over a year. and the whole ""how many politicins have3 shildren in riaq "" thing, when 90% of them have children in their 30- and 40's with kids of thier own. and some dont have kids. he is a great filmaker, but also a propogandist. zero respect for him outside of his ""editing and filming skills".

simply put, i hate all politicians, but some of them actually have good ideas. (about to take flak statement{only using bush cuz he is main target of everyone} :: bush did have SOME, not all, great ideas, SS would have infused a ton of money into the market, SOX act was very much needed, hiring his dad and clinton for public face, and his ideas about no child left behind were good in my book, but got hurt when they were on the floors.)

give gov't back to local areas like old school china times. villages rule thier own villages, and fed gov't mediates between and takes care of ARMY and roads. thats it, there is no need for anything else. not welfare, not social security, not FEMA, nothing :?

Re: Michael Moore's open letter to president Bush 2.9.2005

totaly with u on the decentralising of goverment sightless . different things work for different communities and if each community had the ability to see where all contributed monies through taxes ect.ect. actualy go then we wouldn't see the billions of $/?'s wasted on grandiose ideas that benefit no-one. and back to the original topic of the thread .. Moore questions and scrutinises everything bush does but he neva puts his own arguments through the same process . If you are an interlectual the first thing u do with any idea u have is look for it's flaws . It's ok saying things tongue in cheek but if ure going to put a sustained attack on the goverment you have to be even handed and project an appearance of being unbiased . Or you only leave yourself looking an ignorant fool who oozes arrogance instead of insight
