Re: Trump takes it!
Ready for a change especially as it relates to forced servitude when it comes to buying health insurance (and not necessarily even being able to afford the healthcare that it supposedly provides). Further opening up competition and tackling tort reform and other actual causes of runaway costs would be a good start. Single payer would be another bureaucratic one-size-fits all boondoggle, so I'm not convinced that will be a positive move forward (not likely to have a chance with the GOP in control anyway). I know how progressives like to point to all the "wonderful" healthcare systems overseas and to our north, but the studies are selective in what they unveil. For example, waiting three or more months to see a specialist for a serious medical condition sounds like a drag. Offering catastrophic insurance that doesn't cover everything under the sun PLUS an HSA would be another way forward.
Immigration controls are also a smart thing. Destabilizing and unfettered immigration from Islamist countries (in addition to some with heavy gang activity, i.e. El Salvador) that the Ds were promising was another reason they were resoundingly defeated. The Republican Chamber of Commerce will have a hard time getting away with any collusion with the Ds in continuing to push for high levels of immigration. The mainstream media hasn't learned that this vote was born out of a concern for national livelihood, so they've already started the "racist" and "sexist" narrative.
All that muttering about heightened regulation (and a de facto neutering) of the 2nd Amendment also likely got people into high gear in the booth yesterday.
Finally, the last thing Barry's presidency will be remembered for is transparency, as Wikileaks has so painfully proven. I can only hope that Trump won't forget that since he benefited greatly from its lurid expose of the corrupt Clinton machine, and if he really wants to look like a good guy, offer a pardon to both Snowden and Assange.
As an aside, Mike Pence is a refreshingly classy dude (Trump's inverse?) and such a breath of fresh air over Joe Bite Me and Hilary's running mate.

The only good thing about this is that Australia isn't America. America is fucked  Canadian immigration site crashed

right, but not for the reasons you're thinking...

It's a miracle he did it....
Thank God the Clintons & Bush's can go and die out of politics.
Re: Trump takes it!
Looks like a big win for the uncle toms.. Turns out the mexicans and blacks don't matter very much when your average white american is poor and pissed off.
Pro Life won it for trump.
All these people that said trump was a racist and hitler should be ashamed of themselves. Hillary is a witch and sold her soul to the devil a long time ago. This literally was a battle of good vs evil or light vs darkness.
The big winner is ----------- Jesus Christ!

Re: Trump takes it!
We all will enjoy the show if there will be any.
Which Trump won? The one on the debates who said Hillary would be in jail or the conciliatory who shared his gratitude for all these years of political work? ...
Trump is extremelly clever and has a vision, gotta give him credit for that.... Nearly hard to belive he decided to run for President only 3 years ago and now he accomplish that titanical mision.. The only way to explain his meteoric rise and the millons of people who voted a billonaire who didnt pay taxes for years and years and went bankrupt not 1 but 4 times, is that the other option was even worse.. He is proven an unethical bussiness man (but clearly capable of make lots and lots of money) .. If he has the same unethical attitude as a President, well, sky is the limit.
On his first speach, he is now negotiating rather than confrontating.. Let´s see how it goes and if his supporters will like his now truly political side, very different of his confrontative attitude along the whole campaing which obviously gave him result. No more words, now it´s time to act. In the practice, i dont personally believe he will do all the things he said.. One thing is have a populist speach and other very different is do all that stuff that sounds good for people hopeless with regular politicians.
Kinda redundant but the world is going through tremendous social changes ... Changes arent good or bad so lets see how it goes at least next 4 years.
Re: Trump takes it!
Rob Ford antics on a global scale.
Re: Trump takes it!
^^^ Your country is about to get very crowded
We are probably going to lose the great barrier reef. :( 4 years with a reversal on climate change activity should do it. It is in big trouble now. The world is going to suffer for this not just America.
In fact most of his policies are incredibly damaging to the rest of the world.
Just an idea , when our shit PM killed of our climate council , we crowdfunded it. And we give a monthly donation. It's been very successful ,they work really hard for us .
If you as a 70 yr old orange faced moron
It only took 3 years going for a reality Tv star to run the most powerful presidency in the world.. Calling him a moron by now not only does not reflect the facts, its what Hoff´s post quoting Gandhi..
Be careful, he is in that position because american people actually chose him. In the land of liberty, millons and millons of american voted Trump.
If he achivied what he achivied in only 3 years as an outsider, kinda looking forward what he can do in 4 having all the power he will have.. The worst thing people can do now is keeping underestimating him.
Re: Trump takes it!
The only reason he won is because he didn't have to pander to the diplomacy that people who would have otherwise financed his campaign would have expected him to. Mix that with the fact that he speaks his mind like an ordinary man rather than a literate person of the law landed him closer to the masses (communication-wise) than most people running the campaign. Finally, add in the fact that egregious errors in judgement by Dems to maneuver Clinton ahead of Sanders which in turn got Trump the goal-post has, in effect, got nothing to do with his abilities than blind fucking dumb luck.
Re: Trump takes it!
Yeah, surely there are multiple reasons.. Some reasons are central and others are peripheral ..
Being far away from America and not having clear the internal ones (in example the ineptitude of Dems) all i can think is Trump was clever enough to identifie what millon of american think, talk to them in the way they want to listen those things and finally (but maybe the most important) a world wide juncture where populism speachs and proteccionism ideas fits so perfectly.. Evidently Trump read this context long time ago and did everything on the right timing. Far to be a moron, IMO.
I dont like him... but he did everything well to make all happens the way he wanted.

He did have the rat cunning to tap into the hopelessness of the people those main escape in life is watching TV reality shows. To properly evaluate Trump a person would have to be a little bit crazy themselves. Being a reasonable human being just doesn't work there.
BTW Hilary did get the most individual votes. But that didn't translate into state/college votes.
Can you get to read the Guardian?? It has lots of information , it is considered left wing, but the comments have a lot of right wing :) So you do get to see both sides. I like comments even if they make me want to scream or cry sometimes. There are a lot of great commentators who give links etc.
Re: Trump takes it!
^^^ Hoff I doubt Gandhi said that quote as it is generally attributed to a fellow South American Apparício Fernando de Brinkerhoff Torelly a Brazilian Satirist, which is why the quote is in Portuguese .

Rob Ford rode a similar no-nothing populism wave - and was an example to just about everyone why electing a no-nothing buffoon was such a mistake.
Ford and Trump are cut from a similar cloth.

He's got zero experience in government and he's given the highest office of the land. Have you forgotten what he campaigned on while he was running for president?
While people will argue that his lack of experience is a boon and reason for his being elected and a suitable candidate, they're thinking that one person can change an entire system that's been in place for a couple hundred years, has been legally twisted over and over again into archaic rules and in some cases have served and benefited the politicians themselves for a long time. Is this system really going to change in 4 years for the better because a self styled "outsider" who loading up his cabinet with people like Newt Gingrich, Rudi Giuliani and other career politicians who are part of the very system Trump claims to be against, and they have been part of the system for years and often used it for their own benefit.
Why do people insist that people who are unqualified for a job "should be given a chance" when it comes to the public sector? Would you use the same criteria if it came to building your home, handling your finances or treating your health? You'd likely want some kind of assurance that they have some kind of qualification, rather than going on a system that was treated like voting for American Idol by it's own populace as your qualifier.

Solid & I'm with you on that point of view. However, the so called 'experienced' politician(s) have done nothing except initiate Executive Orders & put forth policies that are detrimental to the people of this Nation over the last 8 years.
Re: Trump takes it!
Oh dude, I completely agree - the status quo in Washington has to change - this election highlighted the worst parts of how politics are run in your country - it's no longer who's the best and the brightest that wish to serve their country, it's greed, entitlement and a hunger for power and an eagerness to abuse it (on both sides - what occurred to Bernie Sanders at the hands of his own party was disgraceful). There's way too much corporate interest involved in the politics and puts their demands before the people, regardless of the damage they do to the environment, the citizens affected or anything else.
There's tons of people that don't feel like their being heard, and in a lot of cases, quite rightly so. However, what occurred here is more "burn the system down" or a self inflicted wound.

That's a synergistic relationship actually, marrying American manufacturing with the EV revolution. Trump is no dummy and can no doubt see the opportunity represented by the demand for EVs with the 400,000-strong reservation list for the Model 3 (you might be shocked to know I waited in line to make said reservation on the opening day).

Re: Trump takes it!
The wall and the ridiculously funny 20% tariff he's proposing is going to hurt the American economy than it will anyone else.
Renegotiating NAFTA as flippantly as he's thinking he can do it will also probably fuck them worse off than they were back in 2008,
