"Of course the people don?t want war. But after all, it?s the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it?s always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it?s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

Re: How to influence the public

Karl Roves playbook is a direct reflection of Germany in the 1930's.

How the public ignores this is truly alarming.

Re: How to influence the public

ironic, isn't it?

although rove is more of the campaign brain. in terms of defense and foreign policy, i'm more worried about richard perle. he doesn't even really have an official post at DoD, but he does a lot of shot-calling. i get shivers down my back just thinking of him...

Re: How to influence the public

Did you see Perle get hit in the head with a shoe a few months ago? His was debating Howard Dean, when someone in the audience got up and threw a shoe at him.

The really scary guys are the PNAC'ers- Rove has just managed to put a nice face on them.

Re: How to influence the public

yeah. check out the Daily Standard...William Kristol's neocon playbook...which this administration follows to the letter.

Re: How to influence the public

Its the Weekly Standard actually.

Kristol's father is considered to be the father of the neoconservative movement. He was the first maniac to think that Leo Strauss was right.

Id love to see Kristol in a dark alley.
