so hard to get real cold hard facts and even believe they're credible... what is annoying is people will jump on the racial bandwagon immediately without knowing the truth.

I doubt that law applies in 2014, not to mention and maybe more importantly, when the gangs live in St. Louis ...

I was actually friends with a guy who was a blood and so was his brother. He wore blue bandanas, red ones, whatever matched his hat or shirt

Exactly!

And many uneducated citizens blindly believe everything they read or see on the news. We no longer have the integrity in journalism we once had.......

[On Twitter and Facebook, it appears that many people are believing the bunk Holder-gang leader story.

The National Report used to have a disclaimer that said it was satire.

The disclaimer used to say, “DISCLAIMER: National Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within National Report are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental . The views expressed by writers on this site are theirs alone and are not reflective of the fine journalistic and editorial integrity of National Report.”

But a recent and real editorial from the National Report outlined what the website is trying to do after it got a negative reaction about a fake story of a NYPD officer shooting a baby. “Satire is not required to be humorous, nor was this particular post meant to be funny,” it says.

It adds: “The people of the modern world need to understand and develop the ability to corroborate information and not just accept information as true without further inputs. Absolutely baseless information is spread by ACTUAL news sources on a daily basis and have resulted in a serious divide without our country.”]

agree to what he said but there was no riots until the military police came. studies shows that if you got military officers shooting tear gas etc, you can provoke a riot from the people. and not to mention you can throw in a fake rioter to start it off. i'm sure they where itching for it too.
6 shots to an unarmed man says enough for me. one in the head seals it.
This. Regardless of what he did, he was unarmed and shot and the Ferguson police have not enforced the public trust, instead showing a siege/us vs. them mentality when it comes to the public. That doesn't absolve Brown of what he did, if he did anything - they still murdered an unarmed man.
One of the men approached the officer in an aggressive manner; the officer ordered the man to stop and gave instructions to him to surrender. The man continued to approach officer till a physical altercation occurred between the two.

The suspect ran away from the officer up a hill, turned and fired at least 3 shots at the officer. The officer returned fire, fatally wound the suspect.
Tell the idiots protesting if you don't want to get shot by the cops, don't fire 3 rounds at them.

Next.

Read a quick article, made an assumption, city is fucked? Nice one.

As someone who actually lives here, I can assure you this city isn't fucked. Absolutely horrible "want to be the first to report" reporting by local, and what will eventually be national, news media.

The nonstop MSNBC coverage of this 24x7 last month or so (before ISIS became the next world ending event and this was forgotten about) was pretty over the top. I think the media did more to inflame the situation than anything else.

They absolutely did, it's painful to watch...then to cruise through threads like this where people far removed pick up what the "only the hits" media is laying down, and then debate that, it's just :BangHead:

I haven't regularly watched "the news" in years. I quit watching ESPN too because they were fucking up my sports.

Yeah I have it on in the background here and there during the day to see what is going on, but for a week solid they were just beating the issue to death, and having "experts" on for both sides stating that people should go to jail, or be sued etc...never mind the evidence or investigation that is still underway.

Thanks to the 24x7 cycle now they just need to fill air time, and to keep ratings up that means going over the top..meh.

It wasn't meant as a dig. I was trying to explain that I wasn't referring to the entire city of St Louis, but Ferguson can't seem to stay out of the news lately, white police shooting black males. It's terrible press for Ferguson, that's all I was saying.

Funny how it wouldn't be news if either the cop were black or the suspect was white. You can thank your mainstream media for racism.

The last article you linked about the suspect who shot at a cop and was then killed by the cop, isn't in Ferguson, it's south St. Louis, about a half hour and about a dozen "towns" away. The two incidents are not related, and are quite different, but feel free to lump any black kid that gets shot by a white cop into this thread and make it about Ferguson, because everyone else is already doing it too.

But do you think that the protests that are currently happening in STL would be happening if they didn't see/hear about the Ferguson protests?

I'm sorry dude, I didn't pay close enough attention to the details, and Clint is right - it's the media skewing things as usual to make a nice little racist package to serve to the public.
