My wife loves a good trance mix... you know what they say, happy wife = happy life

Is quality trance in the year 2013 an oxymoron?

Are we going to respond to this thread like children or with some ounce of seriousness?

Re: Any Decent Trance Out There Nowadays?

Necessarily has to be trance in 2013 ?? I dont know to much good quality trance today.

Try with the good years of trance like Oakenfold in 98-99 or something like that.

Re: Any Decent Trance Out There Nowadays?

Well yah, I'm sure there has to be something decent out there though that's new. I've got plenty of mixes from the 95 - 02 era that I enjoy. She's weird though, she doesn't like old movies either..... women

Well, you can listen ten continuous hours of ferry corsten, armin van buuren, tiesto or someone else, must be something good on there. :D

Re: Any Decent Trance Out There Nowadays?

I still listen to Christopher Lawrence's - Hook Recordings mix when I run. It's old, but to be honest, I don't think it sounds too dated.

Re: Any Decent Trance Out There Nowadays?

Funny you should ask.... was going through my old CD's and ended up listening to Transport and In Search of Sunrise 3 the other day and was thinking the same thing.... I wonder what new trance sounds like... more specifically I used to love that Motorcycle - Till the rush comes track and I would love to find something similar.

beautiful Motorcycle's track, I love it. And that "in search of sunrise 3" album is the one that has Oakenfold's track remixed "beautiful things"? it's good, too :)

trance is now called EDM, just pass her a deadmau5 cd.

Re: Any Decent Trance Out There Nowadays?

Richard Durand took over the In Search of Sunrise brand after Tiesto went all commerical EDM. If she likes that trancey belearic stuff, that might be a good place to start by combing through the cd tracklists.

^thanks that's a great idea. it's only fair imo, we have a road trip coming up for a wedding and this way I can keep listening to my preferred genre of music instead of Country

Re: Any Decent Trance Out There Nowadays?

Hey I like trance too but I'm not finding much stuff nowadays that I enjoy. like Menno De Jong as a trance artist though, he does play a little commercial but imo does it better than a lot of DJs. Not sure what he's playing now but I liked him a few years ago. Here's are my 2 favorite trance mixes by him. Has a bit of the older trance sound, really banging set. Menno de Jong - Live at ASOT 250 @ Asta (Den Haag, The Netherlands), 2006
01. Kirsty Hawkshaw - Fine Day (Leon Bolier Remix) 02. Mark Otten - So Serene (Menno de Jong Heading South Dub Mix) w/ Carrie Skipper - Time Goes By (Acappella) 03. Orjan - Prison Break 04. ID 05. Ralphie B - Massive 06. Starts off with a nice chill summery vibe, then gets into the more commercial trance. Menno de Jong - Live at Intuition Winter Festival,2010
01. Also I quite like John 00 Fleming, he tends to play dark progressive trance/psytrance music. Here's his essential mix from 2010. I think it's fantastic. [SOUNDCLOUD]https://soundcloud.com/yoshii-2/john-00-fleming-essential-mix[/SOUNDCLOUD]

Also check out Solarstone, the album Solarstone - Electronic Architecture 2 is excellent. It was one of my favorite albums in 2011. Very good mixing and a bit more interesting sound than most trance music you find. Here's a preview for the album.

Hope there's something here that you'll enjoy! :)

Oh I remember J00F... he use to play some really good psy stuff... thanks for the link... it'd be nice to listen to something different for a change...

Funny I'm actually getting excited over this...lol

And Yes John, trance over country any day mate :D

Cheers Rawrmune, will give each of those a listen and report back ;)

Re: Any Decent Trance Out There Nowadays?

I actually got 33 minutes into the Intuition mix, and couldn't take it any longer, I feel as though I gave it a good fighting chance, although I was cooking while the mix was on . A bit too trancey I guess, going to give the 00 flemming mix a whirl

Re: Any Decent Trance Out There Nowadays?

Gareth Emery the kind of trance I've been listening to lately.

That and Richard Durand. He took over the In Search of Sunrise mixes from Tiesto and so far I haven't disliked what I've heard from him.

Thank ye Simon and Highsteppa... the Markus Shutlz idea was fantastic, usually his mixes were always somewhat eclectic as I recall. I also appreciate the cream mix, I've officially been pointed in the right direction, I'll take it from here chaps, thanks again! :)
