I don't know if this is a smart move, but apparently when sovereignty is turned over to the Iraqis we'll be handing Saddam Hussein over to them. Anyone else think something is fishy about this?

I don't either know if that's smart, but it'll sure be a whole lot of fun to watch another beheading in Iraq. This time, totally justified...

He's dead in one month after handover I bet.

I think it would be a rather "fast" trial, if there would be any... more a matter of days if not hours, judging to the action taken against Sadam's statue in Bagdad.

I think it's a great idea. If his own people kill him then the US is out of the hot-seat for killing them ourselves/abusing him or letting him get away with things. Also, if they kill him (which I have no doubt they will) it will help show skeptics that his people really did want him out of power!

question is if so, who gets to be the lucky one...

Imagine this:

Saddam gets handed over. Al-queda 'rescues' him and now Saddam wants revenge. I'm sure he still has people who are still loyal to him and willing to take his orders. Doesen't sound too smart to me.
Saddam gets handed over. Al-queda 'rescues' him and now Saddam wants revenge
Since when did those two regimes co-operate?

Even the 9/11 commission has publically stated they have no credible evidence to suggest they're in cahoots.

I thought thats why we went to Iraq?

Your right they likely don't, but don't you think they would now have a common goal?

Sure they will rescue Sadam. Even if this would happen, I think that Sadam has lost most of his followers by now (since they were following mostly because of their benefits, which Sadam can't offer anymore and thus IMO Sadam can't seriously threaten anyone anymore.

I think you guys are on to something. That way, Bush can justify a connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda :WinkNSmi:

IMO turning him over is just a cop out. The U.S. isn't send him through any sort of U.N. court, because that would be a waste of time. So we'll just throw him back into the lion's den he created and wait for the new gov. to torture and kill him.

:Rolling: Pretty lame but what the hell else are we going to do. The whole world will throw a tantrum if we detain him, execute him, or simply hold him without an international trial......so sending him back to Iraq is our only recourse.

#206241Post 14 of 22

In the name of diplomacy and fear of what might happen (if US terminated him) u r throwing him back to Iraq in a final, desperate try to regain the good will of public opinion. Hence, we r living in a world were media, statistics and communication tricks work together for the 'symphonic' manipulation and control of this world, flooded by narrow minded jerks like Bush (tiddles alikes) and ignorand stupid suckers like Kerry. I say skin the cats and feed them to the dolphins.... but I am too high

Yeah for the most part. Just like the us help training there millitary also for when this so called new gov't takes over. Don't make much sense but who knows. I predicate saddam will be back in power in less then a yr.

#206282Post 17 of 22

Not a bad idea simply politics as usual. Sending Saddam back to Iraq is just a means to an end. If we were to attempt to prosecute him we would first have to charge him with crimes (something we have yet to do this is why we have to return him to Iraq to stay with in the bound of the Geneva Convention), then prosecute through courts. A rather expensive time consume venuture no matter how you look at it. This way we stay com completly within th G.C. and have Saddam executed without investing any real time or effort, excluding the tremendous initial effort of capture.

I was wondering about the Iraq-Al-Qaida link:

they might have had nothing to do with each other, which could explain why Saddam had to hide in an underground dog-shed like the dog he is. He obviously received only minimal help, from inside his country, and if he were in touch with A-Q, wouldn't they have gotten him out of the country a lot earlier and stashed him away, just like Bin-Laden? They've already proven to be very capable of pulling that off you know, even with American or European soldiers and special forces crawling all over the place (see Afghanistan).

On the other hand, what could A-Q win by letting him take the fall? If they had something to gain by it, they might as well have done that. But actually I don't think Saddam was an idealist like Bin-Laden, just a despot and a nepotist, enriching himself and terrorizing the country and the region. So maybe Bin-Laden didn't want to have anything to do with the man...who can say?

But what happens if some of the new goverment people are Sadam loyalist? and they just put him back into power? Do you think our govermnt will sit on the place where he is captive to make sure he gets a proper trial or what ever punishment he gets? Also if he rots in prison for the rest of his life wouldn't that be better then excuting him? Although, I guess he could get recued by people.
But what happens if some of the new goverment people are Sadam loyalist?
lets just hope not :Who:

I highly doubt there will be a public beheading although it would be justified if you believe in eye for an eye and that sort of thing. Thats just too cruel a punishment for the new government to support if they want world recognition. He may be pubicly executed somehow or another, but if he gets locked up for the rest of his life then he better be allowed interviews so that the whole world can see him suffer behind bars like noreaga has.

#208871Post 21 of 22

I think they should turn him over to the new Iraqi gov. Think about all the people that "hate" that guy. It would a wonderful treat for the people of Iraq to due process of law for this sick fuck.

Some of you worry ... I am sure the Good Old USA has a cruise missle with his name on it. We will be watching.

I could really care less as long as he dies. The sooner the better.
