Well thank god we have this recovery.. The US has just been downgraded to - "Don't expect us to pay you back"

Let's see what Tim Geithner had to say about if the US would be downgraded.

Well here we are a week later and they have been downgraded. You see if you just listen to these people and believe the exact opposite of what they say, you will be right 80% of the time.

IMO the GDP of the US has been cooked over the last year or so. I believe there has been negative growth and that we are in the beginning of the second phase of the depression.

Oh ya and the couple thousand point drop in the last couple weeks is a good indicator too.. ;)

Call it what you want, and I don't necessarily disagree with you on this... What I do want to point out is that I expect(ed) this recovery to take about 8 years.

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

lol @ recovery

There will be no recovery until the sovereign debt situation is under control, and the FED and Wall Street are held accountable for their part along with the spendthrift politicians (your genius boy wonder being the biggest offender).

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

The world better wake up soon. Or we all will be broke. The Mega Banks and Mega Energy have been cutting us a thousand times. We are slowly bleeding out.

We as a global community must stand together or we will hang separate.

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

^He really expects this President to start that process? One who received more campaign funding (from both national and international interests) than any of his predecessors?

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

I posted that as more of an identification of the problem than what he said as a solution. It's a start for sure. They all suck, they're all bought, both sides of the isle, from the bottom to the top. Way to jump up and bash one side tho Vinnie. Solid effort. #biggesteyerollever

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

Just pointing out the obvious, and that expecting it from this President is a fool's errand. You won't have to deal with my politically incorrect posts anymore, goodbye forever.
We as a global community must stand together or we will hang separate.
Fat chance.

Someone talking some sense but...its not congress thats "bought", its the whole country...every single elected post...legalized corruption at its worse...with vested interests which only include perpetuating the system as long it can survive so that money can be accumulated by the few...when the masses understand this I will join them... until then I plan to accumulate wealth with the few.

p.s. this is not just a US problem...its global look at the UK and Murdoch/Ecclestone...the Chinook thing of the 90's...communication tenders in Europe for bandwidth...insider trading on wall street and in the city... we all live in rampant corruption...its a joke...and the public well...the masses are uneducated idiots who steal Nike trainers, burn local privately owned businesses as a sign of "rebellion" and post half naked pics of themselves on facebook... my faith in humanity immediately restored.

^this.

I have zero faith in humanity. Don't hold your breath for "the masses." A person is smart, "people" are stupid.

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

Yea then this happened:

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/business/2011/08/sp-president-stepping-down-two-weeks-after-us-downgrade/41586/

Deven Sharma, president of Standard & Poor's, is stepping down from his position in the company, according to a report from the Financial Times.

Replacement? Citibank's current chief operating officer Douglas Peterson.

Conspiracy? Nahhhhh.

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

The problem is if we are in a recession, depression, call it what you will, our technological advances and changes make it hard to detect.

That and the factors make it such where you have to be in a recession for some months anyway for it to officially be considered one.

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

three consecutive GDP contraction quarters...not really the issue

#1542492Post 20 of 26

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

the depression was postponed by QE1 and 2 and 3. Running out of bullets though. The depression will be worse now then it would have been in '08

"Well you will probably (or probably have) heard of QE2. It is Quantitative Easing part 2. The mainstream media has put their propaganda twist on it so numbed brain Jersey Shore people will probably think it is a new Playstation game. In fact this isn't QE2 it is actually QE6. Let me expain

QE1 $152 Billion Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 (Feb 2008) QE2 $700 Billion Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (Oct. 2008) QE3 $787 Billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Feb 2009) QE4 $26 Billion Hire Act "Jobs Bill" (Mar 2010) QE5 $30 Billion Small Business Jobs Act (Sept 2010)

QE6(aka QE2) was worth $600 billion Nov. 2010

You see I am smarter

Re: The Depression Drives Forward

Lol...so because you decide to call something quantitative easing it is...do you even know what quantitative easing IS? You're "smarter" than an average table perhaps yes...but definitely more arrogant than an average person. Good luck with that.

In RM's world, unless you've invented something, he's smarter.
