Just read that the hostage from NJ was beheaded by Al Qaeda and filmed. What is this mess in Iraq?

#201523Post 2 of 35

There's a post about this in yackity yak but it should be here anyway.

That's bullshit. They wanted saudi prisoners released so they behead a american hostage. Try a saudi hostage asshole.

It makes me sick to think these people kill innocent people for their political war on america.

#201536Post 3 of 35

they don't care...plain and simple...

now, wait until the video is released.

#201651Post 12 of 35

I dont care to see any video of these crimes against humanity. So a few camel humper prisoners were ridiculed and "tortured" and humiliated. Since when is beheading someone a fair response to that? Whatever happened to any eye for an eye? Fucks sake havent these bastards killed enough innocent people, I think the allies have alot more torturing to do and humiliating before we even come close to their body count. And what about this bitch (Iraqi) I saw on MSNBC the other day talking about Hussein needs to be freed once Iraq is turned over by the allies because of some stupid law that says political prisoners need to be set free once that happens.

A few? A few?? Fucks sake, it was dozens and you haven't seen half of it man! And how would you feel if a buch of foreign soldiers come raging into your country saying they'll free it, and then not doing what they promised? And how's about that 'camel humper prisoners'...don't expect them to show you respect if you don't show it to them.

Besides that, if Saddam is to be tried and convicted, so should Bush be: he's the one that went around telling lies about chemical and nuclear weapons. Don't forget: Iraq did not pose a direct threat to the US. It was severely weakend by the embargo, even though it invested al lot in its military, which turned out to be really shabby after all.

And now the US is trying to 'plant' a democracy there, sure...I'm an Africanist student for 5 years now, studying development countries politics, economies and history, and I'll tell you this: we took more than 9 centuries to come where we are, don't be so na?ve to think you can reduce that process to one year.

This whole attitude of the West determining what's good for the world is really starting to piss me off now. Saddam sucked, but if I don't like the way my a man 3 blocks down is living I don't go down there to puch his face, do I? And now the Netherlands is in on it too, sitting in the most remote area of Iraq, screaming hell if 'one of our boys' almost took a hit. The cowards. Our prime-minister is licking Bush's arse, and that is worst of all.

There may be one dictator less on this planet, but this war sucks in every way.

That's the thing...in their eyes it is. Their religious beliefs are so convulted and blinded by hatred of Americans that they feel they are doing God's work. It's just an excuse anyway. Their only point is to kill as many Americans as possible. For one reason or another.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! ok, so it was dozens.. big f-ing deal.. How many 1000's up on 1000's of people have died in the senseless terrorist attacks!? 1000's MAN! not dozens. At least they are soldiers coming in and sorting things out, not cowardly terrorists.
At least 5,000 civilians may have been killed during the invasion of Iraq, an independent research group has claimed. As more evidence is collated, it says, the figure could reach 10,000.

Iraq Body Count (IBC), a volunteer group of British and US academics and researchers, compiled statistics on civilian casualties from media reports and estimated that between 5,000 and 7,000 civilians died in the conflict.

Its latest report compares those figures with 14 other counts, most of them taken in Iraq, which, it says, bear out its findings.

Researchers from several groups have visited hospitals and mortuaries in Iraq and interviewed relatives of the dead; some are conducting surveys in the main cities.

Three completed studies suggest that between 1,700 and 2,356 civilians died in the battle for Baghdad alone.

John Sloboda, professor of psychology at Keele University and an IBC report author, said the studies in Iraq backed up his group's figures. "One of the things we have been criticised for is quoting journalists who are quoting other people. But what we are now finding is that whenever the teams go into Iraq and do a detailed check of the data we had through the press, not only is our data accurate but [it is] often on the low side.

"The totality is now producing an unassailable sense that there were a hell of a lot of civilian deaths in Iraq."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,976392,00.html
By Bob Graham, Evening Standard, in Baghdad

American soldiers in Iraq today make the astonishing admission that they regularly kill civilians.

In a series of disturbing interviews which throws light on the chaos gripping the country, GIs also confess to leaving wounded Iraqi fighters to die, and even to shooting injured enemy soldiers. They say they are frequently confronted by fighters dressed as civilians, including women.

Their response is often to shoot first and ask questions later, even when it means killing genuine civilians. Yesterday, US troops killed at least one man and injured three others during a demonstration in Baghdad by former Iraqi soldiers protesting at not being paid for two months. US troops first fired into the air and then into the crowd after the demonstrators began throwing stones and bricks.
http://www.thisislondon.com/news/articles/5401680?source=Evening%20Standard

Did you bother to check how many Iraq civilians died during the American campaign? Did you bother to check how many Iraq civilians died because American troops failed to provide safety? I mean, they are there to provide safety and stabilize the country, aren't they? Well, I knew you didn't...

I think the beheading is terrible and is not justified by anything, because it wasn't commited by Iraqis or rebels, but it was commited by terrorists (Al Quaeda). Let's just hope that not many people will "loose their heads" in Iraq and that things will at least start to get normal.

what are you arguing about? you are comparing war casualties... the hell with it. it's not worth it to argue about this. the whole situation is a mess. and no matter who dies, whether it be Hussein, bin laden.. whomever. it isnt going to get any better. if i offended anyone with my earlier remarks, i deeply apologise. i do. i was upset at the news i had just seen, and went off without thinking 1st.

Amen to that. I also noted that Bush could not remember his last name when he spoke, and called him "Paul" throughout his speech. One thing I can't stand is when he calls them "thugs" because, as a leader of a superpower, you should be able to use better words than "thug" all the time. :?

Yep, you're right about that. Calling them "thugs" makes me think he either hasn't taken the time or is incapable of thinking of a different term for these people. Even though I'm a Bush supporter I will still readily admit that watching him speak is, at best, cringeworthy. How many times can he repeat the same couple phrases and basically say the same things in different words every time a camera is stuck in his face.

My feelings on this whole situation are going south by the minute. I see nothing but more and more shit coming at least for the next year.

And god knows how long would it take him to remember a couple of new phrases. Maybe he'll learn a few new words for the next mandate, if he gets elected.

#205598Post 29 of 35

this entire post has revolved around whether it is ok to treat your enemy as they treat you. if the US is claiming moral superiority as reasons for it liberation campaigns (or invasions, depending on your politics), then clearly, the answer is NO, no it is clearly not ok to toture prisoners even if some of them might have been involved in violent uprising.

Back on topic;

This is disgusting news and I feel for the man's family sitting waiting and knowing he would be executed.

As for the people who done it, well i'm glad they gunned them down but they were just cannon fodder anyway. Every leader of these "orginizations" should be found and publicly executed themselves and all there followers stoned to death in the streets!

One thing I can never figure out is these people saying that all westerners must get out of the mid-east or holy-land, but they are quite happy to live and work in america, the UK etc. so whats the deal with that?

#206399Post 31 of 35

now also in the news, a south korean has been captured and will suffer the same fate if their demands are not met in 24.

another day, more fragmented the place becomes...

and its funny that bush uses thugs so much with the team of monkeys behind him. he might use it to relate better to todays youth.

#206490Post 32 of 35

War is different. I don't think that one can actually trust the media and or the soldiers to a certain extent. The same shit was going on in Vietnam (I don't think we should have been there). Kids were given hand grenades to give to a GI. Then of course the kid would do it. We don't know how many of these "civilians" are regular people running around a battle zone with an AK-47. US troops, British troops, German troops, fuck any civilized country and their troops aren't trained to murder unarmed civilians. Watch 'Rules of Engagement'. I know it is a Hollywood production but you can't honestly tell me that shit doesn't happen. I have a very hard time believing any report that American or any countries troops openly and willingly fired upon unarmed civilians. War sucks, people die, civilians die. Shit how many civilians died in WWII? Or WWI? No one gives a shit because everyone understood that then and most everyone agreed with trying to obliterate each other.

Paul Johnson apparently has lived in Saudi Arabia for 10 years and was going to convert to Muslim.
