Re: The redistribution of wealth
Point taken. However, there are far less "rich" people than there are people on some type of government assistance. This may surprise alot of folks, but not all "rich" people are republicans either.
Speaking of rich, how much money does a family need to take in annually to be considered rich in ya'lls opinion. At the moment, the Obama administration is saying $250,000. Do you agree with that?
i think 250K for a family income is not enough to be considered "Rich" these days...250 USD is only 153K GBP...split between two is 76,5K meaning after tax each earner get s 50K per year which is just over 4K a month...with that you got lets say 2 kids to raise...if you want private schooling that's another 15k - 20K x 2 per year...so you are on 30 - 35K each with that you need to buy food, petrol and pay mortgage...not rich imo....at all...if you are on 250K usd each...then maybe you can be seen as "rich" although...
Re: The redistribution of wealth
^True. I think Senator McCain's definition of rich was having $5 million in the bank back in 2008.
Forgive me sir but I am going to listen to the guy who's a Statistician and professor of statistics and political science and director of the Applied Statistics Center at Columbia University. Who also happens to have a mathematics and physics SB degree from MIT and a PhD in statistics from Harvard. Mr. Andrew Gelman only has 3 Outstanding Statistical Application awards from the American Statistical Assoc.
Oh and is also an elected fellow of the American Statistical Assoc and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.
Listen away. You know what they say about statistics. ;) This reality doesn't change because one is highly educated. I am tired of pseudo-intellectuals and the intelligentsia whose word you seem to take as a matter-of-fact, so please put me out of my misery for daring to be a skeptic.
Re: The redistribution of wealth
It's this type of thinking that are getting kids sick again from diseases which vaccines have for the most part done away with a long time ago. Parents thinking because they have google and a college degree in history makes them more of an expert than people with a formal education which they've spent their entire life on...

Re: The redistribution of wealth
I'm saying that everyone who has an internet connection and 15 minutes of google skills thinks they know everything, which is not a good thing. Get it?

his credentials do not invalidate his ability to spread lies and misinformation. i'll always remember one of my profs in business school who said to be skeptical of statisticians and their statistics lol
Re: The redistribution of wealth
So he is wrong, just because he sounds like he is qualified? That seems to be the standard now days, if you have credentials, then you must be lying and owned by the man or the gov't, and therefore are lying.
Re: The redistribution of wealth
no one said he was wrong?

When the system is bled dry, one wonders what the freeloaders will do. It'll make Greece look like a cakewalk.
Re: The redistribution of wealth
No our system will destroy itself before that happens...we will cannibalize one another...people will be dying around us and our compassion will be gone out the window...with people looking after numero uno as some already do...
