i would never vote for hillary

Evidently, the "RUN HILARY RUN" bumper sticker has been very popular with Democrats and Republicans alike. The main difference is that Democrats put it on their back bumpers, while Republicans put it on their front bumpers.

Most of the die hard libz I know wouldn't even vote for Hillary.

Still, I find this statistic staggering. I doubt the study was conducted very well. They probably got the stats from less then 500 people, and all of whom probably fit in the same demographic.

I don't think this country is ready for a women president, not because I'm sexist or anything, but because there isn't a single female candidate worthy of the position. Or even worthy of running for the position.

The women out there should agree. The only women who could possibly have a chance is Hillary, and if you let that tramp represent women's first steps into the most powerful position on earth, there won't be another women for a long long time. She will ruin the chance for women everywhere.

This drum beat for Hilary will get louder and louder. The media will start to run specials and the love affair will be front page news all over the place more and more. Next thing you know slick Willy will be the UN's secetary general and Hilary will be running for president and the media will go totally ga-ga for it and fill your TV set with more happy horse-shit about how we will finally "get back on track" and how the polls show more people think this is a fantastic idea and how much 'hope' they have for the future of the free world. Everyone basically turns the opposite in opinion to whatever they have now, sound good?

Civic, this interests me. Does it really matter what you think your country is ready for? Before the last election i read time and again how the 'people' didn't really want either Bush or Kerry but faced with those two they would vote. . . .

How many woman are there in senior, either national or state, political positions? Do women have the same ability to fairly run for congress or the senate? Are women candidates able to muster the ridiculusly large sums needed to be taken seriously on a local stage let alone on a national one?

I've always thought that one of the disadvantages of the American electoral system is the fact that it relies so heavily on the green back dollar! It seems to me, as an observer of election in the US since Regan first got elected, that at the end of the day the guy, who can raise the most cash has the most chance of being elected. Regardless of what they actually stand for. Oh the power of marketing!

Is this system unfairly balanced against woman?

^^ I think the system has actually done really well as it pertains to putting women into positions of power. There are many, many state and federal representatives and senators that are women, and that a candidate is a woman is not really news any more -- with the exception of president, b/c there has never been a female president before.

I'm inclined to agree with civic that the main problem with electing a woman president right now is that there aren't any that I'm aware of that really have the chops to hold that office. The one woman that arguably does, Hilary, is unelectable.

To your other point about money driving elections, that is most definitely true, but I'm pretty sure that Kerry outraised Bush this most recent election cycle -- I'm going from memory, though, so forgive me if that is incorrect. Republicans tend to do a much better job of using that money to hammer home their point effectively, though, IMHO.

If both parties ran women, then a woman would win. People can't bring themselves to vote anything other than Dem or Rep, so this is how we get a woman into the White House.

There are perhaps millions of good female candidates for president; due to media and campaign finance, they will not get the opportunity to run. So we see how it will be a very long time until a woman gets elected because of the two party/media/campaign finance barriers.

Anyway, what does it matter? Female or male, the president can't do enough to save the country.

People will say that they would vote for a woman because they don't want to face the fact that they themselves are in fact sexist. I would venture to guess that this number would be significantly lower if people were being honest. I, for one, would have absolutely no problem voting for a woman, of course given the fact that I trust her policy, etc.

Well Put ska. I agree. There is more to it then just voting for a women president b/c she is a women. People would have to agree with her policies and what she is going to do to help the well being of the country. i personally would vote for a women president if I agreed for what she stood for. Right now seeing how the last couple of elections the candidates have been really weak. Maybe a women president is what this country need to stir things. A big giant Aenima. LOL

I would like to see a woman president as long as she did a good job. I think about at my workplace that there are many more women in management positions than men. Also, at the state and local government level there are many women that hold office.

I don't care for Hillary as the first candidate though. And if she runs for president, I hope that people don't blindly vote for her just because she's a female.

i wouldn't vote for any woman just because of her gender. but i think it's about time that women step up. there aren't that many women in the house and senate proportionately.

of course money is a big issue. if you didn't need to be a millionnaire (or billionnaire) to run for president, then any old retard would do it. just kidding.

i do think it's pretty pathetic that even some third world countries have had female presidents or prime ministers. we should look to the UK, israel, india, the philippines, etc. and be embarassed.

intelligent response? well, she can run but she'd never get a nomination: not only is she a woman, but she's black too. not that it's an issue for me, but for many people in this country it is.
