Isn't dance music about crossing cultures and boundries....

Do we really want to promote poltical discussion on a dance forum?

Isn't there enough politics forums on their own?

Example of the political arguments/skirmishes on the GU board... pretty bad imo..

... Discuss...

well it seems there are a lot of people discussing politics already in this forum. so i say yes it's a good idea. no need to censor topics.

If you don't like it, don't click on this forum. The reason it was added was because people were getting pissed that it was discussed in "General yakkity Yak." However, now I'm starting to realize people will bitch wherever you put it.

yes there should. its a good way to see what other people are thinking in different parts of the world. its kinda what the internet is suppose to be, freedom to exchange information anywhere with anyone ...... oh and music ;)

I thought they brought this up already?

Seemed most people were cool with having a politics section.

I like how it's seperated so that you don't get heated debates carrying over to the wrong thread.

Clearly it's a no-brainer...

I really don't think so... unless there is a "sports forum" too haha

#201468Post 9 of 21

I think the idea was to keep the politics out of general yakity yak... which usually causes so much negativity among members. (especially since this is election year) But agreed you should post a recommendation for a sports forum in the recommendations thread.

I second Pam. Sports don't come up as often as politics do. When sports do come up it is short lived. Politic threads can go on for days. I think the politics forum is great.

I already tried.

I think it's good to have a separate politics forum. Even if I don't necessarily agree with my fellow debaters all the time, I still enjoy intelligent conversation and the chance to hear differing views. Being aware of what's happening in the world - no matter what your view - is all good. :D

I always wanted a politics forum on the old ms and I was really surprised to see it as the 3rd forum posted on the new MS. :D I think it's good to have it. It's for the best. The politics enthusiasts don't disturb others and on the other hand they don't have to browse through tens of general or humour topics. Although I came here to discuss music I got "stuck" in politics. So, with the new politics forum MS is just.... HEAVEN.

It's precisely because dance music crosses boundries of gender, race, religion and nationality that politics is bound to be raised.

What I really appreciated about [MS] 1 is the fact that not only could we slag off/praise Sasha/Tiesto but we could also read and learn from each other on topics we might not necessarily have had much information on before.

And? What does that prove? You have more control around here than I do? Cool!!!! :Respect: :Respect: :Respect:

I think I liked -e-'s explanation better.

I didn't say I was against it... I was a discuss topic.

My own view is I agree with it being kept it out of Yakkity Yak and give it its own space. :)

I think its a great idea. Important to keep it outta General Yakiity yak as some people dont want to get involved, and some may get offended. Enough members of this board wanna discuss political issues anyway judging by some of the last thread on current issues.

I actually liked it mixed in the the Yikkity Yak thread. I seem to forget this forum is here and it also seems to divide the site. I understand others were getting tired of the political debates (including me) but it did promote interaction. Now it seems like everyone is hiding out in their little corner of the site. I'm also finding the general section to be very shallow since the site was redone, and I believe this section being seperate has alot to do with it.
