There isn't much I can say about this film as I just finished seeing it about a half an hour ago. A stunning masterpiece that shines because of the brilliant performances of virtually everybody who has at least one second on screen. I highly recommend this movie.

'Million Dollar Baby'
this is new in theaters right? im not up on my new stuff.
Yeah just received a wide-release yesterday (Friday the 28th).
Whats it actually about?I gather its about some girl boxer who triumphs in a prize fight or something?
In the wake of a painful estrangement from his daughter, boxing trainer Frankie Dunn has been unwilling to let himself get close to anyone for a very long time--then Maggie Fitzgerald walks into his gym. In a life of constant struggle, Maggie's gotten herself this far on raw talent, unshakable focus and a tremendous force of will. But more than anything, she wants someone to believe in her. The last thing Frankie needs is that kind of responsibility-- let alone that kind of risk--but won over by Maggie's sheer determination, he begrudgingly agrees to take her on. In turns exasperating and inspiring each other, the two come to discover that they share a common spirit that transcends the pain and loss of their pasts, and they find in each other a sense of family they lost long ago. Yet, they both face a battle that will demand more heart and courage than any they've ever known.
bring lots of kleenex. i completely did not expect what happened in the last half hour of that movie.
on the plus side, at least clint eastwood doesn't continue his trend of sleeping with his much younger female costar in this movie.
havent seen it, but i think we can all trust clint eastwood movies nowadays, the man has more integrity in his work than anyone out there.
Very true. And thank God Morgan Freeman doesn't play another detective!
what happens in the last half hour?I'm not planning on watching it but would like to know

SPOILERS
hilary swank's character makes it to the top fight and is whooping butt but the other boxer knocks her out with a cheap blow and she lands on the stool in the corner. she breaks her neck and is paralyzed from the neck down. the rest of the movie is about swank wanting to die and eastwood not being able to kill her because he's so attached to her. in the end, he kills her and runs off. the end.
i felt kind of violated and robbed when the movie was over.

Hilary Swank better win the Oscar for Best Actress. She was amazing.

i think so too boss. always been skeptical of her after Boys Dont Cry. even Insomnia when she played a cop, it wasnt great. imo, she really captured the character in this film, and made you believe in her. sad, but proper ending.
saw today on one of those Cnn news channels the movie is attracting unwanted attention from the kevorkian like scene. dont wanna give too much away. not that cnn didnt already. asshats.
Like i said,i went yesterday to see the movie.. And all i have to say is that Hillary Swank is fuckin amazing in this movie. And what about Mr.Clint? HE'S GOD!
Clint is like good wine...The older he gets the better...
For those of you that haven't heard, there's a firestorm of controversy surrounding this film and the issues it deals with. I'm so sick and tired of people that don't understand that films are (in most cases) pieces of fiction portrayed on a screen. It's hard for me to believe that I'm sitting in the theatre next to people who lack the mental capacity to 'read between the lines' and comprehend what a movie is truely about. IMHO they are the same people who take things like The Bible literally and don't appreciate it for what it really is - a work of fiction.

just because i was expecting the movie to be the usual "person triumphs against all odds to win" sort of thing instead of such a downer.
it's like going to see the incredibles and finding out that mr. incredible gets diagnosed with cancer halfway through the movie.

I feel the same about the ending. That really pissed me off, it was incredibly cheap and anti-climatic. You would think all the build up would be for something far more reaching, triumphant and redeeming. Yet we are treated to death on two levels, physical and sprital for the sake of ego. Other than that it's GREAT!
Ah, but with death came new life on different levels. Did you forget that?
where else could the movie go? with a broken neck comes pain and suffering. any different ending would have been a blatant distortion of the truth.
im going to see this today, looking forward to see it. i accidently read the spoiler, but oh well
okay, it was fucking great. my girlfriend was a bit upset that they didnt explain clint's charachters problems with his daughter and his past.... i don't think they needed to. the movie was excellent, and is deservedly nominated for 7 oscars, if you buy into that stuff...
9/10 imo
and as stated above, clint does get better with age, i just watched unforgiven the other day. i gotta watch mystic river again now
oh my god, exellent movie, keeps me with all my attention the hole movie.....and man, the final were good, like it, why should it be different?.....cant.....anyway like it very much..... if you want a different final watch rocky,
Re: 'Million Dollar Baby'
Good movie. Very sad and honest sometimes the people you trust turn their back on you.
