Re: The King's Speech

A great film indeed - sincere, and thought provoking

Both actors deserve an award

Re: The King's Speech

The social and political context, and carefully look sharp in the plot of the film, is the depression at home, the rise of fascism abroad, and the arrival of the media as a major force in our lives. In the center of the drama are four critical incidents.

Re: The King's Speech

colin firth's golden globe spech totally won me over. here's hoping he can bag an oscar, too (though since rush did not win best supporting actor golden globe, i hope he gets the oscar nod for the same category). also helena was stunning in this movie as well...playing a role i would have never expected her to ever do...much less do incredibly well.

Re: The King's Speech

I dug it. Very Oscar bait-ish in the material, but still very well acted, shot and executed.

Re: The King's Speech

Mam' like ham...

Fantastic all round. Looks like it will be close between Firth and Bale (The Fighter) for the golden frozen man.

Leading the pack with 12 academy award nominations

Re: The King's Speech

I saw this last weekend, it was a really great movie. Colin Firth and Rush did a great job. Im predicting Firth for Best Actor and I think this will win best movie too. Not as sure about that one, but it is a safe bet.

Re: The King's Speech

Wasn't aware of any hype over this film pre-Oscar, and I thought it'd be a quaint comedy at best.

Saw this last night, deserved every Academy Award if not more. Absolutely beautiful, some of the scenes show off the synergy between costume and set I didn't expect in a film like that (compelling the gf to pause the film and talk about it or simply sighing over some of the shots). Every single actor in the cast was excellent. An understated, controlled, beautiful film, felt like everything came together in the right place and watching the film live up to the hype was an absolute pleasure.

(How the hell could Toy Story 3 have been nominated alongside King's Speech???)

The king's speech, what a awesome movie. Speech disability can ruined anybodies life & the person who have it. He suffers a lot. But every problem has it solution. So you have to just take initiative and god will open all close door for you. The main moral of the movie is this according to me.
