If you didn't know... Ibiza hits the big screen (again). :?
You?re a superstar DJ, but what do you do when?.

?ITS ALL GONE PETE TONG?

IN CINEMAS MAY 27th, 2005

Based on true events, ITS ALL GONE PETE TONG is a comedy following the tragic life of legendary Frankie Wilde. The story takes us through Frankie's life from international fame as one of the best DJ's alive, through his subsequent battle with adversity, which culminates in his highly mysterious disappearance from the scene.

A genius in his own right, he clawed his way to the top of the DJ ranks, living the opulent life of a superstar, residing in his trophy villa in Ibiza with his trophy wife. But then tragedy hits, as his career and his well-being are suddenly threatened by a seemingly insurmountable twist of fate.

Frankie dives into a low period, struggling with depression and the physical threat to his career. After a year of locking himself away he emerges on the other side with a new approach to his music and a fresh attitude. Will Frankie make it back to the DJ booth? Will his new single be any good? Will he get back his opulent old life and does he even want it back? When your life has to change, things look very different?

ITS ALL GONE PETE TONG is an engaging comedy exploring the relationship between fame and sanity, capturing the infectious rhythms of the Ibizan club scene.

From the producer of Human Traffic? and The Football Factory? starring Paul Kaye (Dennis Pennis) as Frankie Wilde, and directed by Michael Dowse (of offbeat comedy FUBAR) , ITS ALL GONE PETE TONG will open in the United Kingdom and Eire by Redbus Film Distribution on May 27th, 2005.

ITS ALL GONE PETE TONG received its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival winning the Toronto City Award for Best Feature.
eh, it might be ok. i'd be interested to watch, just because it sounds like it may shows a lot about the scene. i'm sure it probably sucks, but then again people in toronto seemed to like it....

#348022Post 3 of 51

I'll check it out. The Toronto Film Festival is usually a pretty good indicator of decent films. Not to mention it was produced by Niblo & Preston who also did 'Human Traffic' which I enjoyed.

#348243Post 4 of 51

yeah, human traffic was funny. laughed my ass off at the end, you know what i'm talking about. :Naughty:

this movie sounds ok. i'll watch it. couldnt they choose a better title though?

#348317Post 5 of 51

one question. who the hell is Frankie Wilde? answer that then i will put the rest of my statement down.

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

He doesn't really exist you know... but they're doing a good job of making it seem so ;)

#348656Post 8 of 51

So they just made the person up? Or is he supposed to represent someone we all know? Pete Tong, or Paul Oakenfold? Seems like it should be Paul since he has sort of disappeared, after being a superstar. Whereas Tong was never really a superstar, and hasn't really disappeared.

Any way, I wonder when this will come to the states. I'll see it when it does regardless of who this Frankie Wilde is supposed to be.

#348741Post 9 of 51

Sounds like it might be similar to the marketing of 'The Blair Witch Project' where they fool the audience into thinking the whole thing is/was real.

You can view the trailer here: http://www.michaeldowse.com/petetong.html

And by the way, on an aside, the term "It's all gone Pete Tong" is cockney slang for "It's all gone wrong".

Thats what I always thought... when I was in London, my british friend always said that.. very funny saying, i might add.

It pretty much describes this movie though

#362486Post 11 of 51

I saw this at the Toronto film festival in Sept and thought it was pretty funny. Not so much about the scene as a whole (compared to Human Traffic or Groove) but some excellent bits in Ibiza's clubs and beaches. The concept of "djs are gods" definitely came across. Focused a lot on the dj's ability (or in this case, inability) to beatmatch - someone who doesn't know better might think that's all that djs do!

#365280Post 12 of 51

I am sure this movie is going to be stupid but probably hillarious. So I might check it out when it hits theaters in the states.

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

Personally I'm all for anything that attempts to pile it on Pete Tong. I'll give it 5 stars unreviewed.

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

^^ I could be wrong, but I don't think it has anything to do with Pete Tong.

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

Actually i cant wait for this one for two reasons .. 1 same producers of human traffic and i really liked that movie 2nd is that ..well we dont get so many movies showing the scene ,talking about "the" real electronica , dance music fans while when u look at the # of rap and hip hop portraing movies it's soo much and really most of them are silly like that eminem shit (imo a desperate attempt to reveal him as a grown up) .. And here comes a question why dont we get many movies talkin bout dj's clubs the scene as a whole i mean ????

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

I saw the preview screening yesturday and I really enjoyed it. It's fimed in a mocumentory style and has cameo apprearances by some big d.j's, which is quite funny since they're talking about a fictional d.j. Great film with some extremely hilarious moments. Two thumbs up!

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

Saw it on friday.Thought it could have been a lot better - all you see is him stumbling around drinking whisky from the bottle and snorting loads of coke.

The good bits are in the clubs however, really makes you want to go clubbing!

Did anyone else think 'this guy is sasha in the early 90's' especially when you see him on the cover of mixmag!!

and learning to mix whilst totally deaf - pull the other one, ewven if it could be donew how would you know what the tune was like?

#428632Post 19 of 51

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

there used to be a deaf dj in Orlando named Def Jef. i bought plenty of his mixtapes back in the day. why? because they rocked! being deaf doesnt mean you dont hear.

and btw, theres a fucking billboard for this movie a couple blocks from me. :? thought this was a no-namer flick. guess i was wrong.

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

went to the premiere of the movie tonight in Calgary, the director is from Calgary, nice to see a local making good. I thought it was great!! Watching the scenes from Ibiza brought back memories of my trip to Ibiza 2 years ago. It wasn't like human traffic, it was a different story, but an amazing film, funny and tragic at the same time.

can't wait to see it

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

Got my free passes for the opening in Toronto this week. I laughed when one of my friends said she couldn't wait to see the movie about Pete Tong.

I said, "you've gone all Patrick Swayze (cockney slang for 'crazy') on me?" and she looked at me like I was the one Dirty Dancing.

Its All Gone Pete Tong

for those of you that haven't seen this movie yet you have to go see it! such a good movie, I thought it was so sad at first, I can't imagine on of my favortie djs going deaf, but it ended nicely. The directing was great, same director for Human Traffic, sound track is great too. Only thing I don't like is the title, cause its definatley not all gone.

Re: Its All Gone Pete Tong

hmmm i'm suprised there's hasnt been much discussion about this movie. Its been out in the Canada and Europe for close to 6 months now. Excellent stuff, about an English DJ in Ibiza called Frankie Wilde who goes deaf. Supposed to be a true, however I'm not sure. Can anyone let me know whats the real story? thanks

#479557Post 31 of 51

Re: Its All Gone Pete Tong

it was hilarious. definitely not supposed to be taken as a serious film; bloody funny though.

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

I thought it was a pretty funny flick, nothing amazing but had a great sarcastic tone throughout which made for good humour... nice scenes from Ibiza, makes me want to go back again soon... cheers :Cheerz:

Re: It's All Gone Pete Tong

^^^ i agree the sarcasim behind the life of a superstar dj made the flick for me. i also liked the metaphor for the guys addiction
