the Academy Awards are nothing more than a Hollywood self-congratulatory party with very little regard for true talent (unless they're well past their prime and never received anything from them).

AAAAWWWWW too bad for that fat fuck micheal moore, no nominations.......

PS jim carey did get snubbed, he was insane in eternal... he is so underrated as an actor. also great in the majestic.

Passions of the Christ was snubbed too. The biggest surprise snub imho is Paul Giamatti.

paul giamatti is such a great actor, and the film should put him on the map as a true lead. he just never had the big role, that performance will change it. also, you can start to see a straying from the idea that all leads gotta be a poster boy/girl model type.

i.e. giamatti, cavasiel, Foxx(he looks like someone smashed his face into a wall b4 his skull hardened),staunton and swank(although i do think she is hot, some dont)
AAAAWWWWW too bad for that fat fuck micheal moore, no nominations.......
FYI: Fahrenheit wasn't eligible cause moore decided to release it on dvd and had hoped to get it aired on tv within 6 months of it's theatrical release making it inelegible for oscar consideration.
He had a big role in 'American Splendor' which is by far one of the best movies I've ever seen. The guy is an amazing talent and deserves all the recognition in the world.

Re: 77th Academy Awards Nominations

The nominations are f__kin' joke. I can't believe these people take their awards and nominations seriously anymore. At best, these nominees are seminal in a lower class of film. Academy Awards used to indicate quality. However, that is no longer the case. . .

Much agreed.

like i said...portman must win the oscar...just fot the multiple erections she gave me during closer; and i believe that hotel rwanda is in poll position too(i guess) and finding neverland-----against johny depp would be the single act of homosexuality i am capable:))

amercans are stupid....not all...but the average is way low...from what i've seen till nowAnd bowling for columbine was a very subtile movie...and felt really real/ but fahrenhite 9/11 looses itself between bush and the director moore. Pretty much bullshit and that makes it a bad movie after all. too bad for him...must have remained to the basic deeds and stopped the witchhunt against the idiots that rule that state if there's anyone from the USA...please tell me why did he get realected? i don't understand...he slaughters men for oil...

rubyraks and hoodednight:

Absolutely. But I think the Oscars have always been about Hollywood. It's sort of like the Grammys- just about what mainstream America sees/hears, not what it SHOULD see/hear, and not much about anybody else in the world other that mediocre middle America.

It's kind of funny- huge studios with corporate-esque power push a limited scope of material to the masses and tell people to like it (and of course people belive them), and then have an awards ceremony to congratulate them for producing their material because people liked it because they were told to.

Crazy.
