Just watched the first episode. Looks good so far. Hopefully, this won't be another one where the network airs a few episodes, delays the season for mega months, then cancels the show altogether.

i hope it doesn't turn into lost though (gonna be angry if that jet liner that disappeared....landed on an island in the middle of the ocean...)

Re: The Event

This show is getting really effin good. The acting is srsly good too. That timeline arc with Agent Lee and his girlfriend from the 40's was stunning. really rounds him out as a character. i really dig how they keep the plot moving without keeping the audience in the dark. everything is explained within 1, or 2 episodes.

my theory:

these 'aliens' are not really aliens at all. they're from a future earth...sent to the past.

  1. in a simplistic way, the writers make note that the 'aliens' don't age (if at all) - my guess is that they will not start aging until they reach the moment from which they jumped from the future to the past.
  2. they talk about how they come from a place with no water. my guess is that this is a reference to a future earth as well....a subtle nod to the green movement or perhaps something more ominous (see #4)
  3. thomas talks about 'vacuum tubes'. if he were from another galaxy, how the hell would he know about vacuum tubes? he also talks about having to develop technology for the U.S. gov't so that they can speed up the process of getting back home (aka the future).
  4. sophia looks up at the sun when she first gets outside before she rendez-vous with thomas in that warehouse. (she's already been outside in the first episode, so why is this scene significant?) my guess is that it's a clue as to why there is 'no water where we are from'. perhaps a solar flare?
