Re: The men who stare at goats

This actually looks quite interesting... If you have ever heard of MKULTRA and are interested in that, this movie, based on the book with the same title, is basically about mind control experiments that the US allegedly conducted on US Troops during the cold war.

Have yet to see the movie, but the premise seems promising.

Re: The men who stare at goats

It's Clooney in his more goofy mode, but it's an entertaining reinterpretation of the book (which took on a much darker edge, and made for a pretty cool read).

I wasn't in love with it, because it got a bit unfocused and a bit too off track by the time the final third of the movie rolled around, but it was a nice bit of brain candy at the time.

Elements of it were - the bits about MK Ultra, the 1st Earth Battalion, non-lethal weapons, but the "truest" element of it (a reporter coming across a self claimed Remote Viewer/Jedi Warrior) is sexed up into a much more engaging dramatic angle to make for a more compelling story onscreen.

I'll agree with only one part of that comment, "delete imo". It wasn't really worth the watch either. Clooney can't / didn't pull off an eccentric person his character was supposed to be, which, what I felt, was responsible for the less than entertaining outcome of the movie.

Kinda funny but the ending was weak. On the whole, felt like the movie could've been much more.

Re: The men who stare at goats (2009)

^ totally agree, i sat on the cinema chair for few minutes more after the lights turned-on, couldn't believe that's it! ..i just felt in the middle that something good can be done outta this, but something left missing, anyway.. worth watching but not with high expectations as i did have, it will ruin everything.

This.

I really liked most of the movie, thought it was genius writing up until the last 20 minutes... it's almost like a different writer came in and nearly ruined the film :/
