Re: Sherlock Holmes (2009)

CANNOT wait for this, I remember seeing the Trailer a couple months back and thinking... shoot I gotta wait an entire year before this comes out!

I loved the Sherlock Holmes TV series as a kid. Jeremy Brett was perfect back then.

Re: Sherlock Holmes (2009)

Saw this, enjoyed it. Robert Downey Jr gets the whole manic ADD thing down right and has a good chemistry with Jude Law who is more restrained but can't help being drawn into trouble. Was only slightly dissapointed that Holmes' deductive flashes were shown mostly during fight scenes and didn't reveal more of it at crime scenes except at reveal towards the end. The plot and villains were all set up, and at times it just felt like you were along for the ride waiting for Holmes to get on with it. Ritchie also felt more restrained which is probably a good thing.

Re: Sherlock Holmes (2009)

It's pretty much a summer popcorn movie that came in late to the game. Robert Downey Jr. plays Holmes up to be an eccentric rock star, while Jude Law does the role of Murtagh from the Lethal Weapon movies - he's too old for this shit. Rachel McAdams is so far out of her league and her character is so underdeveloped, it's a waste of dialogue and script pages.

It's an enjoyable distraction I guess with Guy Ritchie's direction borrowing heavily from The Dark Knight in the way of visuals, while the movie itself is a fairly routine buddy cop movie time transplanted into Victorian era England. Nice cameo from Brad Pitt who should make for a nice Moriarty in the next movie.

I declare it brain candy.

Re: Sherlock Holmes (2009)

a movie for fun - what else do you expect from Guy Ritchie? Snatch still ranks as his best movie in my collection - pure fun

Re: Sherlock Holmes (2009)

This was good, a fun movie and was entertaining. I for the life of me thought the main bad guy was andy garcia the whole time. I was surprised at the end credits it wasnt. It was the guy who was also in Body of Lies.
