I liked both movies. Both of them with a twist of course Tarantino style.

Re: Kill Bill 1 + 2

Finally saw KB2, I saw the first one the day it came out, and unlike usual where I'm just behind the times, I actually had no interest in KB2, in fact I had the DVD sitting on my coffee table for about 8 months.

My #1 gripe is that these should have been ONE MOVIE, not two, ONE. Two seperate theatrial releases, two seperate DVD releases, followed by a boxed set is a transparent money making gimick. Done get me wrong, these movies are good, but there was no need to milk it for as long as he did... 20 min less spurting blood in KB1, 20 min less plot recap KB = ONE FECKING MOVIE!!

The other issue I had is since I've seen alot of kung-fu flicks, I think much or the novelty is lost on me. Tarrentino did a very faithfull recreation of a Shaw brothers movie, but it's not quite the real thing now, is it?

I did like Gordon Liu as Pei Mei (he also played Lucy Liu's body guard in KB1), but then agian there are so many other great actors, why have one guy play two roles? Phillip Kwok for instance is still working and would have been better for Pei Mei.

Oh well, my rants aside, it is entertaining, and of course well made like all QT movies, but overall the tail wagged the dog a bit too much for me.

3.5/5

Re: Kill Bill 1 + 2

i loved both movies but found myself wanting to watch the first one more than the second. probably because it moves at a faster pace and the old kung fu trainer guy makes me laugh.

i can agree that two movies is just another part of the marketing and money making machine, but i think the two movies are another way to show how styles of genre in movies can combine and contrast. the first movie had much of a kung fu style to it in its stories and directing style. while the second had more of a traditional cowboy western story and directing style. since the two movies are meant to be one story it shows how each style can be merged at times and serperated at other times to generate a cohesive blend of each style to tell his story. i was impressed all around with both films.

Re: Kill Bill 1 + 2

i think i quite enjoyed those 2 movies. Even when everybody around me was telling me "it sucks" i decided to watch it, and i gotta say i kinda liked it... i don't know... the effects, the main idea of the movie, i don't know, it has sth that really entertain me. Maybe the fact that Umma is fighting all by her self, agains everybody, enemies everywhere, really can't say what didn't let me stop watching it .
