Deadliest Catch
Re: Deadliest Catch
are you kidding me. they once had a marathon of it on a sunday here, i don't think my ass left the couch for 12 hours other than to piss or grab a beer. it was AWESOME.
that latest episode was heavy though...
i'd love to just experience what its like out there. i don't get sea sick and absolutely love the ocean... we were on a cruise ship in the north atlantic about 6 years ago and had 50 ft seas. i loved every minute of it. if i lived near water, i'd definitely be up for learning how to crew a sailboat too...
Re: Deadliest Catch
Love this show... Didn't realize the new season has started already! Thanks for the heads up.
There is something really fascinating just watching mere mortals taking on the monstrous ocean...

Re: Deadliest Catch
Really awesome show, right up there with "shark week" in terms of shows I could just sit and watch with fascination for hours. probably shouldn't, but could ;)
Re: Deadliest Catch

Gosh that was something else!
Re: Deadliest Catch
Also dig this show!
Re: Deadliest Catch
only thing that stinks about this season is that the one chain smoker guy couldnt make it on the boat due to health reasons....he is one of my favorites....his backup captain is a joke.
seems like sigs boat and the hillstrand boat always make cash

Re: Deadliest Catch
anyone have the dvd box set?
Re: Deadliest Catch
Dude I saw Sig on the Jimmy Fallon show last Thursday and it piqued my interest. Then I saw that a freaking MARATHON of Deadliest Catch was on this past weekend. I probably watched 8-9 hours of the show each of the 3 days. I freaking love this show! Seeing what those guys go through makes them the new all-American badasses in my book.
On a related note, I find myself getting more and more hooked on Discovery shows. First, it was just Mythbusters, and now I watch Time Warp, Doing DaVinci, Deadliest Catch, and whatever the hell else comes on too. Long live cool shit!

have u ever watched the alaskan experiement? I am really hooked on that one as well. Descrition below...(and by the way no million dollar prize at the end, u get nothing)
Would you volunteer to be abandoned deep in the Alaskan interior on the brink of winter with eight strangers and attempt to find civilization with nothing more than the clothes and gear on your back? This April, during Discovery Channel’s popular “Alaska Week,” viewers will meet the nine daring people who abandoned the comforts of home to test their ability to survive in one of the most physically and mentally demanding environments in the world.

That sounds pretty entertaining because it sounds like what Survivor should have been: more gritty and hardcore. It says April though so it looks like I missed Alaska week. New Deadliest Catch tonight though!

That sounds really cool. There's no way these individuals don't have some kind of survival training in the wild though, not with only having 2 pairs of clothes, they would all die. One or or more of them has to have specific alaskan winter survival training.

But if they don't it still makes for good TV.

actually they do give them some basic training in the beginning. some hunting tips, how to cross rivers, and a few other neccessary survival tips.....they also are provided with some items like sleeping bags, tarps, a nife, eventually they find a riffle ect...
also at the beginning there was one guy who was an experianced outdoorsman but he bailed after the third episode.
of the 5 who are left, i dont see them lasting too much longer. winter has hit and they are pretty much starving themselves to death because there is not much wild life around anymore.
i just like how they go through all that torture and win absolutly nothing excpet to be able to say they survived the alaskian wilderness
Re: Deadliest Catch
^absolutely, like a badge of honor.
Re: Deadliest Catch
watched the whole 5th season...too bad about all those crabs dying upon their arrival to dutch harbor :what

yeah they seemed all upset that they were losing all this money but they still made over 50k per deckhand....one of the highest in the fleet.
then they made it seem like the hillstrand boat did the best but they only got 30k each....i guess because they have a smaller vessel.
i would make sure to got on a bigger boat that is for sure...20k is alot considering what they have to endure.
i guess they are brand new episodes next week...i think they continue the show now starting the appilio crab season (which is much more interesting bcuz they are out in the middle of winter)
Re: Deadliest Catch
wow. pretty powerful ending to last nights epsisode? did anyone catch it?
Catain Phil catches his son stealing his medication to get high...what a loser. Then it looks like next week is when he ends up dying....which really stinks :( He was my favorite captain on there.
Re: Deadliest Catch
^^^ spolier alert@! :) but more :(
Re: Deadliest Catch
yeah they sort of gave it away in the previews....the show will never be the same.
but dman sig is a freakin prick isnt he. i would die on his boat.
Re: Deadliest Catch
I really hate when they show damn previews of the next week. This is a tough season for everybody.
Re: Deadliest Catch
damn. sad episode. looks like next weeks will be worse.
Re: Deadliest Catch
We knew it was comin though. I hope they drop more dread on the episode with something bad about Jakes Dad. Rough season.
Re: Deadliest Catch
